It was great................until miyamoto took a rainbow colored ****** all over the first gamecube version.

It's still a great game the story is just as good as with the other games. The only difference is that it migrates towards the earlier games in that you have to collect Triforce shards.

Basing a game off of the way it looks is premature, IMHO.

what?

windwaker was one of the best games i've ever played in my life. I really liked the design and cell shading

So from the review I read (gamespot) of twilight, seems like the arrow shooting is still like the old games, using the analog stick. I was really hoping to be able to 'point' and shoot like the Light gun.

I concur, Link to the Past was awesome.

I also really enjoyed Majora's Mask. I'm a bit surprised so many people didn't care for it.

Zelda 2 was OK, but not even close to Zelda 1.
SNES Link to the Past was awesome. Pretty much an improvement in every way to Zelda 1 but it didnt lose anything that made it great.

Never cared much for the 3D Zelda's but I wont crap on other folks happiness.

Agreed. Gameplay > graphics. While the people behind Zelda gave it a new skin for the GC version, it's still an awesome Zelda game underneath.

He sounds like a Playstation fanboi to me.

<--- doesn't own any game consoles right now.

That's because your PS2 broke

Greatest franchise ever. First one I played was the one on original game boy and I loved it. But I thin kmy absolute favorite has to be SNES Zelda.

if you are talking about the gamecube version then yes, you use the analog stick to point and shoot.

the wii uses the remote to point and shoot!

I haven't owned a video game console in a long time, but have borrowed friends on occasion. With that being said getting my hands on a Zelda game would just about be the only reason I would by a new Nintendo system.

Man I love the Zelda series. While TP will be good, I personally think the next one will be even better. Being designed ground up for the Wii instead of being GC based with some added Wii functionality.

I was hoping for more info on the new Zeldas.

yeah, they should have timed it so that part6 was released before the wii release to build anticipation, then have TP review come out yesterday

Cool, thanks for the links. (pun intended)

I played the original and Zelda 2. The first one still is fun to play. I finished the 2nd one, but only because I used the NES Advantage auto-fire joystick and found a place where birds came at you infinitely. I just left it on overnight, and came back to a fully leveled up Link the next day.

I didn't play any more until Wind Waker, which I thought was the best game ever. I didn't really like the cartoony look at first, but it grows on you after awhile. I started playing the GC version of Ocarina of Time. Pretty fun!

The latest vid is kind of interesting, I've never thought how the games tied together, other than the obvious stuff like Maj Mask & OoT. It makes me want to play the games I missed out on like four swords and the oracle games. The split timeline thing is interesting, and maybe true, but I doubt the people making zelda have some grand story planned out.

Anyway, Wind Waker was excellent, and I love the cel shaded look, it looked great, and I think it'll still look good in 10 years. I also really enjoyed Minish Cap. It's pretty cool how consistently well-done the Zelda games are.

Interesting theory. All I know is that Twilight Princess is definitely going in the right direction.

The funny thing about the first Zelda on Cube. While I also didn't like the graphical style so much at the time, the graphics style is timeless - it's like a simplistic cartoon with very good animation. The graphics don't age like typical 3d graphics since the cartoon style doesn't suffer from jaggies and other obvious signs of lower resolution/lower polygons.

It gives the GC Zelda a truly unique look. I don't think people will be saying about Zelda Cube in 5 years what people say about the original Ocarina now (it looks muddy and awful).

I beat Wind Waker when it came out, lamented the excessive sailing and some of the design decisions Nintendo made. Now I realize I was judging the game for what it wasn't more than for what it was. Once you stop telling your self "yeah the cel graphics are well done... BUT" and start saying "Wow, I can't think of a better looking cel shaded game out there" or "how come these graphics haven't aged!?" - you'll come to appreciate the achievement more.

In 10 years, as long as graphical realism continue to improve, I bet side by side, most people would say Zelda on Cube looks better than Gears of War (a very bold claim, I know). Or how about 20 years?

It's an interesting theory, but I'm content with the fact that Nintendo has basically said screw continuity in the series and taken it in different directions. I don't care much that the games don't fit together well as long as they find new ways to make them fun each time.
