They all rusted so bad that I had to throw them out.

Dude, don't you ever just want to "escape?"

The economy is in turmoil, I just got finished going through two months of wheeling and dealing to close on our first house, I got raked over the coals in taxes, I'm exhausted from wedding planning... I need a fucking break!!

This is perfect solace.

After reading this thread I had to go out to ToysRUs and pick one up. Here's what I got:
http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=8264-1

Took me about 3 - 3.5 hours to build but it was fun.

Yeah, that one looks cool too. I'd like to build the "B-Model" of that kit.

We recently got a lego store at the mall. Lots of great stuff.

My son and I are working on the Mindstorm set, building the robot.

For those that gaven't seen the mindstorm construction set. Picture a technic set coupled with 3 servo motors with Rev counters, 4 sensor modules, (ultrasonic, light/color, touch, audio ) & a computerized brick.

Legos are awesome. And yes, they DO cause your son or daughter to major in engineering.

I had mostly Technic stuff...not as good as some of my friends, but fun. The best kit that I had was this one from my grandpa...I was SOOO happy when I opened that present! Best Christmas EVER!

Now, I have been very, very tempted to go out and buy myself one of those Mindstorms kits. Those look amazing. I'm tempted to have kids, only so that I can buy them Mindstorms.

Hell yeah I still play with legos. I live vicariously through my 7yr old son who has pretty much gotten nothing but legos for the last 3 eyars for Christmas/Birthdays/etc.
I...er... He got WAY too much this Christams:

Lego Death Star
Lego Sand Crawler
Lego Clone Tank thing
37 lbs of loose legos (which I separated while at work)
Lord knows what else.

That Lego death star is amazing and took 12+hrs to assemble. Just awesome. The directions come in a spiral bound book. Its HUGE.

Great now I want to go build...

I like putting this stuff together too, but my problem has always been WTF do I do with it AFTER I'm done putting it together? I'm not a fan of more stuff to sit around and collect dust, so I just took it apart and put it back in the box. Kinda defeats the purpose, so I don't buy them anymore.

Sometimes I used to like making all my sets and playing with them... then i would destroy them all and make something cool..

Sometimes trying to make something using ALL the parts was alot of fun

I keep telling my wife I can't wait until our son (who she is 7 moths pregnant with ATM) is old enough to buy Legos so I have a valid excuse to buy them again

I always had that very same dilemma when I was a kid. Usually, I let it sit for a few days so I could admire my work... then I would just take it apart and use the pieces to make bigger, better creations.

Yeah that's what I did too. I had the big ass technics helicopter and a few other smaller sets. I would build the set step by step once, play with it for a little while, then mix the parts with other sets. I had all these cool ideas but was always short a particular gear/rack/axle/whatever to make it work like I wanted.
