I think I still have one of the first mindstorm kits sitting around somewhere. A lot of fun to play around with. You can literally create your own robotic army

My son and I put together his LEGO Technics Dirt Bike (8291-1). I may have to buy Technics for him from now on. They will actually stay together for you to play with compared to the Star Wars sets. The Star Wars sets explode into pieces if you cough while holding them. My son and daughter have been playing with the motorcycle and nary a part has come off with the exception of the wheel chain.

I almost never bought the Technic stuff. Think I got a car once, never put it together right. I was into the fantasy, make believe settings. Had myself the $200 space port train, cowboy stuff, and various other kiddy sets. Loved that stuff.

And it still bothers when people call it "Legos". Just sounds weird to me.

Nice grab! I just completed the flat bed assembly last night. I'll take a few pictures and post a link later today. How do you plan on finding out which pieces are missing? Lay out the entire assembly process and take notes of what you find missing along the way?

I just stumbled across www.bricklink.com today. I can't believe what I have been missing. This is exactly the site I've been wanting to find for a long time. Individual pieces, kits, pictures, instruction manuals, etc. I just downloaded two manuals for some city kits that I lost long ago. I'm on cloud nine.

The seller put in the listing exactly what pieces were missing:

One black technic 1x15 beam
Two grey wheels
Two black tires.

So I juts simply went to Bricklink, and entered in the part numbers for those items and did a search by seller. It then found me a seller that had all of the items in stock and I placed an order through them. The items shipped the same day

I dunno. I disliked technic when it came out. Seems all it did was destroy the imagination to create on your own. I have a nephew who ONLY builds what the kits tell him to. I did not need technic to make my space ships, I used the standard bricks to have them come alive in my mind.

Besides, nothing will ever beat an erector set to me (the unforgiving metal sets).

I've been looking forward to the 8258 - Crane Truck since I read about it earlier this year. If I remember correctly it is supposed to be released some time in October. That front end loader also looks like it would be a fun build.

The B-Model of the Crane Truck looks pretty sweet. I wonder what that North American MSRP is gonna be. I've got about $100 in credit card rewards that's burning a hole in my wallet
