As for the memory, i'm fairly certain it's 512 soldered on, and 512 in the slot. I would be curious to know though if I can expand it to 2.5g, or if I'll be capped at 1.5g. Hmm...

It's capped at 1.5g.

i don't understand why it would be capped at 1.5gigs.
why can't you put in a 2 gig memory module in it?

From what I read, don't know if it's true or not, the chipset used in the Lenovo does not support 2GB modules.

There's 500 megs soldered on and a slot for an extra memory chip. Several users in the Acer user forums have tried various 2 gig modules and none worked. Only 1 gig modules worked. You can find the thread over there (but it's quite old now probably).

Glad I ordered a Lenovo when I did since you can't anymore at the moment.

I'm assuming this doesn't come with a case/sleeve?

Anyone know of any place which sells cases for these ultraportables?

Due to high demand for the new IdeaPad S10 netbooks, we are currently unable to take new orders. Be the first to learn when IdeaPad S10 netbooks are back in stock.

There is a shortage of Atom processors, that is also why Dell is holding off on their netbook release....

Although Lenovo is selling the sleeve separately in China, it may come with it in the US release.

Are there many more netbooks coming out in the near future? I want one but I'm really unsure which to get.

Sounds interesting, I wonder what it's gonna retail at. Hopefully the res is still 1024x600.

I wish it would get better.....then the people that don't want 1440x900 can choose a lower res. Thats about the only reason I haven't bought one yet, that and the memory.

1440x900 is way too big for a 9-10" screen, and I wouldn't enjoy having an image that's stretched by 300 pixels. Most of these netbooks come with 1gb of ram, why anyone would need more is beyond me, you're working with a processor that probably couldn't even handle such a load.

A 9300gs is actually a decent mobile GPU for 3D applications, having it render at 1440x900 would cripple it making the upgrade from GMA950 completely worthless. The HDMI out is also a gimmick, these are ultraportables and not many hotels are gonna have HDMI capable displays. It would've made more sense to include composite out, or s-video at the most.

If you're looking for a high resolution and 2gb+ of ram, you should be looking at 13-14" or fullsize notebooks, not a netbook.

The netbook market has just begun to explode. There will be many coming out from almost every laptop manufacturer.
