Lenovo laptops: Lenovo or Intel wireless?

Which adapter do you guys suggest? Price is the same for Lenovo or Intel Centrino.

the lenovo one is a realtek.

i guess linux wise realtek has good support. dontk now about centrino on linux.

I got the stock lenovo card in the x120e. I should have upgraded. Didn't realize the 5.0ghz-n isn't supported. Reading the lenovo boards on notebookreview.com also mentioned that the stock card has reception issues which I haven't noticed yet.

They both do and any Think branded card and Intel card has worked without Access Connections since day 1.

What goops it up is the following:

- History of shitty Intel drivers.
- Users not understanding the dependencies of power management, Hot Keys utilities, Driver version and Access Connections versions.

Yes.. Lenovo made using Access Connections a bit of a pain in regard to those dependencies. If you are one that does not want to use the Lenovo (Intel) wrapped WiFi driver from their support site, then you should at minimum, not use Access Connections.

Using their System Update tool takes all the work out of knowing those dependencies by the way.

From personal experience, either of them will work fine without using Access Connections. Being that the company I work for has used Thinkpads for many years, the first thing we always did (we being the IT department) was remove the Access Connections crap. I swear by the Intel wifi hardware because I run Linux and the Realtek wireless has caused some issues for two of my coworkers under 64-bit Linux. All that being said, if you're only going to run Windows, there's functionally very little difference between the two.

Apparently the intel wireless card won't eat as much battery. Worth the 10 bucks if that's true.
