Lenovo x41

So I have been eyeing the x40 for some time. I was thinking maybe I could get the x41, but I was discouraged by the price. So I finally go online to order my X40, and god knows why, the order does not go through. So I have to give Lenovo a call and after waiting on the phone for 10 minutes I get to talk.

As I am ordering, I am told by the sales rep that it might take up to 5 weeks to ship my X40. He suggests an X41. And I am thinking to myself, it is not worth paying $500 more for DDR2, 0.1 GHz faster Pentium M, Intel Media Acc. 900, 256MB more integrated ram, and 20 GB more hard disk space. But he tells me that the X41 that he is referring to is only $1429.

I was shocked. This thing is $2199 online. How could that be? I did not ask any questions. I just ordered an X41 for the price of an X40. I am a happy man.

Oh, did I mention I also ordered GB of DDR2 from Newegg for another $100 dollars, instead of IBM's $329.00.

The last picture is great. The laptop knows when it is sideways and parks the heads. If the shock is continious it just ignores it so you can keep on working.

Usually there are different configurations, even within the same model series. Not usually a good idea to just order something sight-unseen, but I hope it works out well for you. I would call back to check on the specs for something that cheap.

i'm thinking he's giving you a good deal on it since he thought he might lose you if he simply asked you to wait 5 weeks. A customer with little profit is better than a competitor getting a customer

Nice buy! Which model did you get?

Pentim M 1.5Ghz, 60 GB harddrive, Intel 2200b/g, I think he said bluetooth as well, which is not usually included in other X41s I have seen, except the tablets. 512 MB ram, but as I explained I already ordered another gig of ram, and an additional 8 cell battery. No external drives though.. Might buy a dock later if I really feel the need.

Ohh the wait. Did I tell you my x41 is not getting shipped until 10/18/2005. And that date keeps on getting pushed back. Any chance they might magically decide to ship it earlier?

And strangely enough I have a stick of 1 gb of ram that was order the same night from newegg sitting on my desk waiting to be put to use on the x41. My laptop is getting here in pieces. Next is the battery..

Surprisingly, Lenovo just sent me a confirmation email that my laptop was mailed to me. The estimated shipping date was the 28th of November. I am so glad that I did not have to wait so long.

I know you are probably thinking "stop talking about that laptop already!!", but it does get interesting.

Here is what UPS says about my package:

And I thought Lenovo had headquartered in New York. This is great.

Got the exact thing... I am still waiting for my laptop (hasn't been shipped out yet) but I got a dock and a CDRW. The Drive got here ok, but the dock is stuck in Louisville, KY and it was shipped from Shanghai... Called UPS said they are missing an invoice. Waiting for Monday to contact Lenovo to see what's up.

Poor UPS had to take it to shanghai and back. I guess UPS in-sources Lenovo's customs clearance, and they have glitches every so often. ANyhow, I am just glad I don't have to wait so long...

I finally got it today, installed the ram, and I was scanning my fingerprint in no time. Surprisingly it had an extanded battery and along with the other extra extended battery that I got, and now i can go on for almost 12 hours without a recharge. The downsides to this magnificent computer are the size of the backspace button, and the 4200rpm 1.8'' harddrive.

Do not forget that unlike other vendors, IBM/Lenovo has a 30 day no questions money back guarantee. Although you seem to like your "bought blind" laptop.

I have no complaints here. One of the best parts about the laptop is the integrated Access IBM suit that helps you update, backup and manage your laptop. You just have to press 1 buttons and a few clicks and you have the latest drivers for all hardware, even the bios. And I must say the fingerprint reader creates quite a "wow" effect on people.

Adn I forgot to mention. P-M 1.5 decodes 1080p with almost less than 10 frames skipped while playing the windows media player segment.
