Lenovo y510p alternative

I've been asked to recommend a laptop for light gaming and general purpose uses. The Lenovo y510p, specifically this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834313584, looks like a great fit for the budget and requirements, but I am concerned about the reported issues with the Centrino Wireless N-2230.

How concerned should I be about these potential issues, and are their any other comparable systems I should be looking at in this price range?

Not sure how the GT 750M SLI performs and what driver support was like, but with the Y500 and GT 650M SLI it was just horrible (I used to own one). That alone made me not buy another Lenovo product. Constant stuttering in games and very very poor frame rates. They never got around to correcting that issue, I had to use older drivers for better fps in SOME games.

Owned mine for 6-7 months and noticed fans started to get louder, laptop started to get warmer. I wanted to re-paste, but with doing so = void warranty. Cleaning the unit to be free of dust is almost impossible without a full tear down to MOBO. Do you game on the go a lot or plan to carry it around with you most of the time? If not, go with a desktop build. Much more performance at the same cost or lower. I've went to a Sager NP9150 after my Y500 and love the sager a lot, however just feel that a desktop is best suited for me. For that price, I'd get a last gen MSI GT60 or a Sager w/ GTX 670M, both are easier to maintain and run quieter.

to be honest the webs were crazy over the y510P when it was launched. However after dust settled, the y510P had the wifi issues, and the SLI issues A15G mentioned. I dont really know if I`d go with that just cause of the issues that are the reason most people liked the y510P for. However if you can wait, i`d go for an MSI laptop. They sometimes price out at that level, and are usually solid gaming laptops.
