I think everyone here has experience with what it brings

It's meh for me. I still like it, but I'm not sure it's exactly WORTH the upgrade price. If you're looking for a specific feature, like Time Machine, Spaces or Boot Camp then by all means it's worth the purchase price, but if you're not likely to use any of that, I'd hold out for 10.6, which will likely be a more significant upgrade.

I think it's faster, you'll benefit too if you have a 64bit chip.

Not only that but Spaces is awesome. I don't think I can switch back to Windows anymore.

10.5 is the first Mac OS I've used since high school. I like it a lot, more than the Windows XP that I dearly loved for many years (beta tested from whistler alpha through SP2). So honestly, I can't testify to how it compares to Tiger, but from what I've read, it's worth it feature wise. But I'm sure all OS makers say the same thing.

I like Leopard, but I found Tiger to be quite a bit more stable...

i just did an erase and install on my MacBook Pro (Core Duo 2.0 GHz).
ran the migration assistant and i am about to download and install the 10.5.2 updater.
i did make a full backup of my drive first (Carbon Copy Cloner) so if I don?t like 10.5 I can revert.

Yes, could others please elaborate specifically on how Leopard is less stable than Tiger?

I've got a Mac Mini with Leopard on it and really love it.

I've also got a 24 inch non-aluminum iMac with Tiger on it and I was thinking about upgrading to Leopard there too.

(hardware is very different, but my impression is that Leopard is a lot faster than Tiger)?

I just get more random lockups that I used to with Tiger. Of course, I'm doing a lot heavier work on Leopard than I used to do on Tiger.

I mainly get a lot of lockups with Office 2008 and Adobe CS3. So it might be a result of that software. Unfortunately I don't have much choice for using that. I try to use iWork 08 when I can, but I have to use CS3 for a majority of the work I do.

I get crashing on FCP a lot more in 10.5 than I did in 10.4. When I formatted my hard drive last week, I almost reinstalled 10.4 but I need Boot Camp, soooo......

I've actually been locking up quite a bit lately, especially when trying to wake my external drive. Thinking i might just backup and start over.

I had to kill -9 a few times, but the OS itself has never locked up on me. I don't use MS Office, I'm using OO3 beta. And I don't use any adobe products. I guess that may explain it, I'm not using bad software.

Hah.. As much as I agree with you there. Adobe has placed itself in a position where it dominates the graphic/web side of the computer industry. I keep looking for other solutions, and I've found a few. I really like Coda as an alternative to Dreamweaver, but I haven't found anything that can match Photoshop, Flash, or Illustrator... so I'm a bit stuck there. I liked VectorDesigner for Illustration work, but it doesn't allow me to import .AI files, which I kind of need access to.

Oh well... here's to hoping CS4 is a much better solution, or that somebody (Apple *wink*) comes out with a fully functioning suite.

Hmm, I seem to have lied to you guys... I've got flash plug-in installed, but it's been problem free up to this point.

I've also been wondering the same thing. I do like a lot of the new features of Leopard, but since my mac is PPC-based, still I'm wondering if it is worth the money.

Yes. Spaces is awesome, I keep Firefox open in a separate space with my Gmail open, it's great and out of the way. Time Machine is solid. Spotlight works 10x faster. Quick Look can actually be really useful sometimes.
