Wife is on her SECOND Sony F series notebook. On both units, there was a buzzing sound under the keyboard that virtually demands a tech take your new notebook apart. After the repair, the first unit was returned for a separate reason. It was painfully slow to boot even when started in safe mode. Second unit is performing OK, but the tech has been in it once to fix the buzz, and he seems to have dinged the keybaord on the way in...the "8" key does not work.
He had the PC pretty far apart to do the work, and my wife figured that there was no way that SOMETHING wasn't going to be broken by the time he was done.
Now she's trying to decide whether to
1) return the second PC and try for a THIRD,
2) just call the tech back to plug in a new keyboard, or
3) move on to another brand.
Problem is, she shopped a lot and really likes the feature set and particularly the ergonomics of ths Sony unit. She can't stand the gloss black of most keyboards, and she likes the backlit keyboard, on the Sony.
Are notebooks too small and condensed to allow techs to mess with them too much? or should we give the tech a second chance?
Anyone out there had good experiences with the Sony F series Notebooks? They seem to get good marks for reliability.
Thanks,
