I said I didn't need one, not that I didn't want one. The part I'm not buying into is having to tear apart my perfectly fine rig(s) just for a video card. And yes, I signed the petition for what that's worth.

Get a grip.

The 7800GTX will probably saturate the AGP8X bus anyways.

1. Intel stinks.

2.Nvidia said themselves there would be no problems engineering the 7800 for AGP just that there is no demand for it. We know that this is bull because they want to market their SLI motherboards which every mobo vendor invested millions in.

Am I the only one puzzled in why the 7800GTX is the only video card that works with SLI and is the only card out right now? Helllllllllo? Let's see how fast the demand changes when and if ATi makes an AGP solution.

You get a grip!

Uhh, whatever. That analogy is way off the mark. If I was typing this on a Pentium 3 system, it would make sense.

I'm with the S754/AGP crowd on this one. No benefit worth mentioning in going 939 right now (S754 running OC'd is wickedly fast despite the "need to be right about my purchase" people that rant about thier 939) except dualcore which quite frankly is too expensive. 7800 cards are great and yeah I'd like one, who would'nt , but it isnt worth the cost of an entire system rebuild right now because the only real benefit of 7800 over 6800 is for the benchmark whores. I'd rather save my cash for when I actualy will notice a difference in gaming, call me jaded if you like but chasing benchmarks isn't worth thousands of dollars every year. I'd rather buy games with the money and actually use the machine I built that still blazes through games. As soon as I buy a game that won't run with everything maxed out on the 6800GT at 1024 x 768 I'll start wishing the 7800 was available in AGP...but it might be time to move to dualcore then anyway.

I'm not likely to be making any significant upgrades in the forseeable future, partially because I lack the ability to forsee the future, and also because I'm soon to be a full time college student again, and I hear that they tend to have very little extra money, especially not for expensive videocards. Maybe for large numbers of hard drives to archive TV shows on, but not videocards.

Anyone who is has 600 for a 7800, probably already would have a PCIE rig.
And those who are serious about having a GF7, will upgrade, its that simple.

No one can see the future better than ATI and Nvidia.. so I trusted their judgement on graphics.
I COULD have listened to the many people here who said it was unwise to wait for 939/PCIE at christmas.. but I knew better than to take your opinion over Nvidia's on graphics. Thanks, but no thanks.

Between ATI probably having a better idea about PCIE being the future rather than AGP.. it just makes sense considering AGPs age.

Poor upgrade choices to go 754 or non-PCIE 939.. sorry.
You got the temporary, and short lived benefit of being able to pop your old AGP video card in your 939 rig, and we have our benefit of being able to use all future cards.
So its fair.. you just got your goody off before, and we get ours now (and for probably a long time to come).

OK, now I will have posted in 3 seperate threads about the same thing. ATI will force Nvidia's hand as I have been saying for 2 days now. Now, the inquirer is not hard news or anything I would stake my life on but they do seem to get it right more often than not. I'll post this link and take my chances (puts on flame retardant suit).
