If there were that many cheap fucks, I wouldn't be in the restaurant business. It's the excuse she gave I have a problem with. $20 at Dennys? I might accept the single mom bullshit. When you drop $140 on food, that excuse doesn't fly anymore.

What if it was here and 6 kids? Eating out for one of their birthdays or something. Hell, it could be her and 9 kids or who even knows. Assuming the 8 or 10 person rule for auto tipping most establishments have, it could be her + 7 kids or her plus 9 kids.

There are no details here, so there is nothing to know. It might have been Denny's for all we know.

McDonalds people can NOT accept tips. But most coffee places have a tip jar. Even the big chains.

As for the illegal/legal immigrant issue: If that bothered me so much, I simply would not eat there any more.

It is the height of rudeness to patron a restaurant and not tip because of some other issue unrelated to the quality of service.

One of the reasons I dont go to my local Hooters any more is they started hiring anchor babies to serve the illegals. But I'm not gonna go in and just treat people poorly, that accomplishes nothing and builds animosity.

I was just pointing out his examples of places for tipping are a little off. I don't drink coffee, but it doesn't surprise me they would have a tip jar. I sure wouldn't leave anything in it. I tip people that bring me food take my order etc etc.

I was also wondering the details, how much food, drinks, people etc. Its still appears to be a place you leave a tip. It is also possible the whole thing is fake.

I make roughly $35 an hour to bartend. I'm good at my job so I really wouldn't let cheap ass like that ruin my day. I wouldn't welcome them back but I definitely wouldn't call the news lol.

exactly, that's the difference in this country, while being a server or similar job you can make a living wage! not in Scandinavia.

To clarify, if you ban someone for not leaving tip then that makes the tip mandatory, which means you must charge sales tax on it, and 8 to 10% must be given to the state as sales tax.

False. Private business can deny anyone business without a reason. Dumbass

And honestly whenever you do get stiffed, if you allow it to ruin your day, it'll affect your service to other patrons. Last week I had a group of morons. There friend joined late but I was still nice to him. He left a $20 tip on his $40 tab, probably because he recognized that his friends were morons.

It was on purpose, you and compliment or complain, at the end of the day, tiping ensures good service.

not anymore. tipping is expected no MATTER the service. wich is fucking insane.

you want a tip? provide me with good service. outstanding service gets a better tip. shitty service gets no tip or a very low one.

I gave about a 22% tip at the hole in the wall Mexican place that I **KNOW** employs (or used to) illegals last time I went. Why? Because I know those guys work hard for their money - AND the food is always great, the service is always great, and you get WAY more than you should for the price. These guys are real Americans - they don't bitch about their jobs. They're just happy to have a job.

Same thing at the hole in the wall Chinese place across the street from work when I grab lunch there sometimes. I'll give them about a 30% tip mostly because I don't have a problem with a $2 top on a $6 order.

Typical "American" chain dining etablishment? They're lucky if I give those silver-spoon teen trashheaps 10%.

30% tip is way too much for any restaurant. But yeah the American restaurants act like they are entitled to 18% tip which makes me sick. I usually tip them 12%.

Umm, at every single one of those I see tons of black people.

You cant call it a white persons restaurant if you dont even have blacks in your town.

Not completely true. Many private businesses, including restaurants, are considered places of public accommodation. As such, they are held to a higher standard for refusing service. The postings of "We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone" are more of a scare tactic for the uneducated.

For example, here in Nevada (which is somewhat conservative), our public accommodation laws read, in part:
NRS 651.050 Definitions. As used in NRS 651.050 to 651.110, inclusive, unless the context otherwise requires:
1. “Disability” means, with respect to a person:
(a) A physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more of the major life activities of the person;
(b) A record of such an impairment; or
(c) Being regarded as having such an impairment.
2. “Gender identity or expression” means a gender-related identity, appearance, expression or behavior of a person, regardless of the person’s assigned sex at birth.
3. “Place of public accommodation” means:
(a) Any inn, hotel, motel or other establishment which provides lodging to transient guests, except an establishment located within a building which contains not more than five rooms for rent or hire and which is actually occupied by the proprietor of the establishment as the proprietor’s residence;
(b) Any restaurant, bar, cafeteria, lunchroom, lunch counter, soda fountain, casino or any other facility where food or spirituous or malt liquors are sold, including any such facility located on the premises of any retail establishment;
(c) Any gasoline station;
(d) Any motion picture house, theater, concert hall, sports arena or other place of exhibition or entertainment;
(e) Any auditorium, convention center, lecture hall, stadium or other place of public gathering;
(f) Any bakery, grocery store, clothing store, hardware store, shopping center or other sales or rental establishment;
(g) Any laundromat, dry cleaner, bank, barber shop, beauty shop, travel service, shoe repair service, funeral parlor, office of an accountant or lawyer, pharmacy, insurance office, office of a provider of health care, hospital or other service establishment;
(h) Any terminal, depot or other station used for specified public transportation;
(i) Any museum, library, gallery or other place of public display or collection;
(j) Any park, zoo, amusement park or other place of recreation;
(k) Any nursery, private school or university or other place of education;
(l) Any day care center, senior citizen center, homeless shelter, food bank, adoption agency or other social service establishment;
(m) Any gymnasium, health spa, bowling alley, golf course or other place of exercise or recreation;
(n) Any other establishment or place to which the public is invited or which is intended for public use; and
(o) Any establishment physically containing or contained within any of the establishments described in paragraphs (a) to (n), inclusive, which holds itself out as serving patrons of the described establishment.
4. “Sexual orientation” means having or being perceived as having an orientation for heterosexuality, homosexuality or bisexuality.

NRS 651.070 All persons entitled to equal enjoyment of places of public accommodation. All persons are entitled to the full and equal enjoyment of the goods, services, facilities, privileges, advantages and accommodations of any place of public accommodation, without discrimination or segregation on the ground of race, color, religion, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, sex, gender identity or expression.

NRS 651.080 Deprivation of, interference with and punishment for exercising rights and privileges unlawful; penalty.
1. Any person is guilty of a misdemeanor who:
(a) Withholds, denies, deprives or attempts to withhold, deny or deprive any other person of any right or privilege secured by NRS 651.070 or 651.075;
(b) Intimidates, threatens, coerces or attempts to threaten, intimidate or coerce any other person for the purpose of interfering with any right or privilege secured by NRS 651.070 or 651.075; or
(c) Punishes or attempts to punish any other person for exercising or attempting to exercise any right or privilege secured by NRS 651.070 or 651.075.
2. A prosecution for violation of a local ordinance authorized by NRS 651.100 is a bar to any prosecution pursuant to this section.

Oh man, I would love to be able to get drinks for $1 $2. The place I hang out at, a Coke is $2.25. The waitresses give us regulars free refills though. Its suppose to be one refill, but its always for the rest of the time we are there. I give them $1 tip for every refill.

Any right-thinking person hates the tipping culture in the service industry.

The cheapasses are the people who refuse to pay their staff properly.

Tipping serves no positive purpose at all. You can go to places like Sweden and Iceland, where tipping doesn't really exist, and the service will be no worse than what you get in the US.

quality of service. If the restaurant's paid better, there would be no incentive to give good service, this causes people to stop going there.
When I get bad service, I tip poorly and won't go there for quite some time. If the food is bad I tip normally but never, ever go back. There's a balance there and too many other places to go eat at.

It does, if they don't earn enough tips the employer is required to pay them the difference to bring them up to regular minimum wage.

Require a tax, for denying business.......

What the fuck are you talking about?

No the tax is making tip mandatory. If you punish someone for not leaving a tip that makes it mandatory, i.e refusing to service people who don't leave tip. There is a tax for mandatory tips.

California law states that making a tip compulsitory in any way makes it no longer a tip and instead a service fee subject to state tax laws.
