Face it, that is what the issue is about. We don't give a rat's ass about the canadian border. There is 1 other country with a land border touching the US.... mexico, where the majority of people crossing are Mexicans.

How are the Mexican immigrants less worthy? The Europeans killed the natives and stole land. All these people are doing is protesting.

Point well made. Seeing thousands of people protesting walking around with Mexican flags just ticks me off ... boot them all over the border, seal the damn thing up, then allow as many in as are needed for the economy. Any immigrant that commits a crime then gets booted back over the border never to be let back in. Those willing to work and contribute are welcome to share in the American dream.

I was being sarcastic and agree with you. My argument intentionally juxtaposed two similar immigrant influxes.

The heart of the illegal immigrant "problem" is the inability of people to realize that no law and no punishment ever prevented a single crime anywhere. A lifetime of brainwashing has confused you that selling your freedoms will grant you safety and security when in fact the opposite is true. So you think that a few laws and few cops can stop the tide of humanity rushing across the border, fleeing the horrendous economic inequality in Mexico for the opportunity of the US. Good luck. The ONLY solution is to open the border to all comers, slowing them only briefly to screen for criminals and the diseased as they pass through. That way we get them legal, get them protected by law, get them working, and get them paying taxes as soon as possible.

It is the crack in the hull that is going to eventually sink the whole ship.

:thumbsup:get them foreigners out...this country is supposed to be white.

I have to agree. When I heard about the protests in my hometown my first thought was "WTF is the INS doing? Arrest them all and throw them out."

It may sound good in theory, especialy the thing about getting them to pay taxes... but that would devastate the US economy. It would be similar to what happened when the Berlin wall fell... you're having people with less skills and income flooding into a strong economy... there's going to be a huge impact. Except there'll be more hate... both sides of Berlin wanted the wall to come down, and wanted the people to unite. In this case, very few Americans do... and they would really become bitter when Americans feel they're losing their 'American' identity to that of Mexicans.

The problem is that right now, the vast majority of the immigration issues are reactive. It's only once they cross the border, working without paying taxes, protesting in the streets (lol i find that funny for some reason), that the system fails and people are pissed off.

Is a great wall doable? Well, China did it... and that was thousands of years ago, and took hundreds of years to build.

I think the Mexicans are great immigrants. Just look at what is happenning in Europe with their immigrants. I think though that if we opened the border, they would all work here untill the country had economic problems and then return home to Mexico with all of their money.

Ridiculous. Your argument assumes the illegals aren't already coming over and "flooding" into our strong economy, and that they can somehow be stopped. Well, they are already coming over (by the millions each year) and they CANNOT be stopped. It's like you read the part about opening the border and your closed mind caused you to forget the rest of my post.

WTF is wrong with you? "allow as many in as needed"? WTF?! Thats like saying, ok we'll keep child labor to a minimum, use enough children or use enough sweatshop workers. Their extremely underpaid and that is taken advantage of, now to say it's ok for them to live here is a complete lie. They need to leave, they're illegal, hence the name ILLEGAL! Illegals aren't needed for the economy, they benefit no one besides themselves, they're the ones that are keeping the rate of inflation to be off from the true rate of inflation...

They're hurting the ones who live here and that is that, end of story. They send money back to mexico, none of the money goes into OUR economy, they drain our social services, they have kids here, they drain it some more and then we're in the poor house..

You know, there are just as many downtrodden, white, legal citizens in America...the majority of people on welfare are white. And everyone panders to them as well...why do people get the impression that the only poor people in America are Latino and Black?

I do see the points they are trying to make. But I always wonder why they don't try to make Mexico a better place to live?

Also in SW Detroit good luck trying to find a job. You better speak spanish if you don't you won't get one. If you do get a job the pay sucks. Since they can hire immigrats for less wages you have to take less too.

Like I said I see that they want a better life but the way they are going about it is really hurting the US.
