I'm planning on hanging out and posting on the forums.
You just wanted your place marker, you! lol
I guess this shall be the official debate thread.
https://www.wired.com/2016/09/how-to-watch-the-presidential-debate/Anybody know how I go about watching this if I don't have a tv? Are there streams going to be available? What channel is even doing it lol?
I won't be watching it since I have something more important to do... what that is isn't known at this time but I already know that I'll be busy (or not) doing something else. The media will declare Trump the winner because he didn't drool on himself and that Clinton under-performed (or over-performed) or whatever they need to say to keep the image of a horse race going.
It's all about eyeballs and clicks now, nothing else matters...
Only Fox. Everyone else likes Clinton better.
Not really... I can't stand any of the outlets, they all suck. News is passe for them, it's all about developing the latest political soap opera so they can sell ad space. Real news is old stuff, nobody wants that shit when they can brainlessly watch American Presidential Idol and advertising.
They have to treat Trump with kid gloves because if they told the truth, his campaign would be over and that's not good for business.
I normally agree with you 100% but it is just a bit weird how a lot of news outlets have not treated Trump with kid gloves, not even a lot of the GOP and he manages to wade throw it somehow.
Considering his past history of screwing people over non stop and people keep buying into it is a bit amazing to me.
But he is a snake oil salesman on a global level, it still amazes me a lot of people can't see that off the bat.
The problem I've see is that the 'news' talking heads let bullshit fly and don't say squat about it and Trump has been the king of bullshit this election. Chuck Todd is a perfect example; he let's the surrogates spew bullshit and then leaves it at that. It isn't his job to call them out on it, it's ours to know what is bullshit and what isn't. That isn't news, it's bullshit and the 'news' has been derelict in beating his ass nonstop like a rented mule and harp on the bullshit. People are poorly informed because our media wants them that way. Trump's bullshit gets a blurb and thin it's on to the next shiny thing they can harp on about Clinton. They treat him as a credible candidate and he's anything but one and they treat her like ebola. I'm not a Democrat or a Clinton supporter (but am voting for her since Trump isn't even an option) but you have to be blind not to see it.
Clinton and scandal = $$$ to the media, Trump not so much.
The issue is that the media feels that fair and balanced means that they have to cover all sides equally even if one side doesn't have the facts to back it up. Just pointing out facts is considered media bias now. The right are masters at propaganda and they have successfully got the "liberal media" label to stick, so now if the media doesn't cover the rights latest rants and whining, they are considered biased.
I grew up watching the news in the 60's and 70's, when you pretty much got nothing but 'dry' news with the occasional big news story where the reporters got to speak up a bit. There was no 'fair and balanced', it was just the news. If it favored one side then that's the way it was, and vice versa. Now we get a talking head that has guests/surrogates spew crap pretty much unchecked, leaving the public to sort through what is bullshit (most) and what isn't (little). Most people just take it at face value to save mental processing time, reasoning that they trust their news outlet, and then parrot the bullshit along with the smidgen of truth they might have picked up in the torrent of crap. Getting to the truth of the news is harder than ever and our media is working hard to make it worse for all.
Despite their claims, there is no balance in news today - just shitty 'reporters' looking for sensational stories to (literally) sell their political horse race.
I agree (I didn't grow up watching the news in the 60s and 70s however ), but there does seem to be one exception to the rule: PBS. Newshour and their other shows do a good job of remaining professional and actually reporting the news without giving their own politics or spin on it. The coverage seems much more in depth as well.
Anybody know how I go about watching this if I don't have a tv? Are there streams going to be available? What channel is even doing it lol?
Quoted so we can do a count afterward.Gather the friends, gather the booze. There needs to be a drinking party for this one. Use the Trump sheet above, but also drink every time Hillary uses "RACIST" "BIGOT" and "ISLAMAPHOBE"
That's okay Trump is still a victim because Republicans are against him too.BTW Trump guys, Lester Holt is a Republican

Also I say this thread becomes the official debate thread for two simple reasons
1st this was the first thread on the matter today
2nd MonGrel seems like an interesting guy.
