I would guess that they are not screened, but I would also guess that the people prepping them know exactly what questions will be asked just from experience. I could see the Houston shooting being a wildcard tonight though.

Oh we're ready. We're getting together with a bunch of friends to watch the debates tonight. We have high hopes for a spectacular show. We're bringing some Bean Dip and Czech meatballs. There is also going to be Schnitzel and I presume more than enough booze to drink us all under the table. My only regret is that tomorrow is a work day and that we'll have to keep ourselves somewhat in check.

some rules and things to look for and what the candidates might request:

Trump will want a tiny little podium to make his baby hands look larger.

Clinton must be on the stage alone. No medical personal allowed to assist.

Trump wants all questions to be submitted in writing twenty-four hours before the debate. Along with Clinton's answers. also, he must be allowed the use of a translator on stage, who will parse his comments to tell the audience what he really meant.

Clinton must not be on her period. And she will have to wear a hijab.

Moderator will be one of those "2nd Amendment people", just in case.

Only one camera is allowed, and it must never leave Trump's face. Oh, and no big words.

Regarding the questions, I don't know if they are shared or not however earlier I heard Hillary's group would not sign off on the LOA (it was called something else but it sounded like a Letter Of Agreement arrangement) until Trumps people signed off first which they never did. That meant that the usual minutia was agreed upon by their organizations working crap out and coin tosses. This is the stuff like lighting, room temperature, who stands where, format of the event, if there are breaks.

Sounds about right. I know there are zero commercial breaks and people watching have been told any disruptions will trigger removal, even coughing could.
I do assume they'll tolerate some applause.

1) Look for Trump to keep labeling Hillary as "Crooked Hillary."

He called Jeb Bush "Low Energy Jeb."
He called Ted Cruz "Lyin Ted."
He called Marc Rubio "Little Marco."

This tactic works because labels stick. When people think about Hillary they will subconsciously think of her as a crook.

2) Trump is masterful at getting massive attention. Look for him to have Twitter and Facebook going full blast before, during and after the debates.

3) Agree, Agree and Agree some more. This tactic is right out of Grant Cardone's Book "Sell or Be Sold." When Governor Nikki Haley accused Donald of being angry, he agreed with her and said, “I am angry, the American people are angry and you should be angry – politicians have taken advantage of the American people for too long and that is why I am running!”

4) Donald will dominate tonight. Hillary is toast. Donald goes into every deal with only one goal. That's to dominate it. The guy is a freak. He never EVER backs down. Donald is a bully. He's intimidating and will choke the life out of anything and everything in the room. He's done this for all his career.

Trump plays to win. Period. I look for Trump to dominate and frustrate Hillary tonight.
