I personally can't wait for the SNL reenactment of this debate. I'll enjoy alec lurking in the background like a creep as Hillary is speaking. The constant sniffing will also be funny. I'm also curious if they'll add some shots of him going unhinged.

As I'm watching this debate it's clear trump had one goal in mind and that was to be the best, number 1 debate liar, especially after pence's debate and record setting lies. I think it would be easier to count how many times trump has told the truth, I don't think I've gotten passed five.

I'm a little surprised by the wide margin the CNN post debate poll showed Clinton winning by. Over 20 points. I have to think that was more a F Trump survey result. I don't think there was any clear winner.

On and before we get flooded with the online debate polls, the conservative sites are again flooding the polls.

You have to look at CNN's audience. CNN is pretty bias, leaning way left. The "moderators" were clearly in Hillary's favor from my view point.

Yet I can't believe these two are who we're left with to be President. Both looked terrible, Trump just rambles a lot. Sad day for American people.

If that poll is anywhere near accurate, then Trump is done.
He threw everything and the kitchen sink in this debate.
If none of it connected outside his base that's been masturbating about imprisoning Clintons (by presidential decree no less) for 24 years, then people have decided they don't want a pussy grabbing tax dodging buffoon in the White House, and it's going to drive their perception of Trump from now on.
Furthermore, if the base loved it, it makes it impossible for congressional GOP to distance themselves from Trump without alienating the base.

The debate biggest loser was American democracy. Began so nasty I couldn't let my children watch. This will go down in history as the most shameful presidential performance in modern history.

That said, both won in some way.

Trump:
Did just well enough to not immediately get tossed from the race. However his defensive positions solidifies him as completely unfit, and unarguably a dangerous person to have anywhere near levers of power.

Clinton:
Managed to ride the wave of Trump sewage without too much broad damage, but will forever be tainted to a large swath of the electorate. Not actually sure if this much of a change of state however versus just turning up the volume of what was already said, so the implications are unclear.

The Clinton campaign has a strange choice. It's best if Trump stays in, but the longer he does so the more toxin they have to absorb. This election can't be over fast enough.

The biggest loser was the broader GOP party. They are fucked either way this goes.

My general thoughts are this...Tump stepped over the bar this time instead of tripping over it. He did better. Hillary was much more rattled and on the defense. She had several opportunities to provide good responses but just pivoted into a wall with nothing of meaning. The two most glaring were the question about the wikileaks and the private/public stances. Her best response was to take Kaine's response last week about having a stance on abortion and capital punishment as a private one, but also accepting the legal one as actual law. She should have built on that instead of some stupid rambling about Lincoln. She also completely bombed the very last question about the other persons qualities. She talked about Donald's kids and then went on to talk about herself/her policies. She should have complimented him on his ability to self promote and motivate. He *IS* actually very good at that. Throw him a bone. But instead she threw a backhanded compliment not even directly about him and then used the remaining 90% of the time to talk about herself. Uncharacteristically, Trump crushed that by giving likely his most genuine response and a true compliment to her. Did it quickly and with absolute zero self promotion or grandstanding with the time. He ended what was an overall horrible 90 minutes with 30 seconds of what felt like honest sincerity.

I think he had some very serious gaffes that are going to be very rough for him over the next few days. The comment about not talking to his running mate and their different stance on Russia/Syria. I think he continued to show that he has a 4th grade concept of global politics. He pretty much agreed that he paid zero taxes and bragged about molesting women. We didn't move away from those topics. He also has a lot of fact checking that is going to murder some of his statements and comments throughout the debate.

Hillary on the other hand was no where as collected and prepared as last time. She rambled and pivoted much worse than the first debate and generally just seemed off her game. I think Trump got under her skin with the head games and women that had allegations against Bill. I really do think that made her uncomfortable and off track. She nailed the Muslim question and the topics dealing with foreign policy. I also think she did a much better job explaining the ACA and what good it *DOES* do for people instead of repeating the lame drum of Obamacare sucks that so many people just repeat without having a clue. There were several questions that she just absolutely bumbled and rambled her way through that were horrible answers.

Overall I don't think it's going to move the needle much in either candidates way. Hillary clearly had more to lose and she may take more a hit just because of that. The bottom has already fallen out for Trump and he really can't do anything but go up. I don't think he did anything to really win back people that are fleeing or considering that ticket.

You honestly don't think she should have served some jail time or at least have been fired and kept from political affairs? If she was Sarah Palin, I'd vote for her to be locked up as well.

Ideological fools are ruining this country.

You generally have to have committed a crime to be put in jail,* not simply on the energy of "something doesn't feel right" or trumped-up innuendo.

The FBI roundly cleared her of any criminal activity. Now who's talking about "ideological fools"?

Trump thinks that Clinton literally submerged her server in a vat of bleach to erase her emails. he's repeated this line multiple times, including last night at the debate (when, in fact, her tech guy used a program called BleachBit)

how is his utter lack of technical understanding on this really basic issue not raising more eyebrows? Clinton isn't exactly a tech guru herself, but at least everyone knew her "wipe it like with a cloth?" line was a bad joke.

One thing that struck me visually was the horrible body language from Trump. Protip: If you're arguing that you aren't a super creep who thinks/says/does terrible things to women you may want to consciously avoid giving that impression with your body and facial expressions.

Looking forward to next Saturday when an angry creepy looming Alec Baldwin shadows Kate McKinnon and the town hall audience asks her if she needs to signal for help.

It's impossible to conclude that his use of "bleached" is any different than the creator of "bleachbit" software. Maybe it's not metaphorical, but we just don't know.

Should there be punishment for those people that commit perjury?

I'm still wondering how this debate did anything for Trump to enlarge his base? Sure, there was a lot of red meat for his "unwavering" supporters, but what did it accomplish as to the job he had...expanding the pool of voters who'd actually pull the lever/push the button for him?

Frankly, not seeing it.

If he used the term "wipe", would you come to the stupid conclusion that he meant she literally wiped the server? You're a partisan hack and fool.

It didn't. It's the same rehashed Breitbart conspiro-trash he's been spewing the whole time. He did nothing but whip them into a further frenzy. But did nothing to embrace and welcome the fence sitters looking for a more composed and "presidential" candidate.

drumpf did better, much better than he did in the first debate, but that's like saying he didn't shit on the podium and fling it at the moderators. the bar is so low for drumpf after the first debate, there really wasn't anyplace to go but up. and his bullshit about 'locker room talk' jesus, I feel sorry for anyone who believes or condones that.

Some thoughts:

Did anyone else notice when Mr. Carter (african american) asked him a question (can't remember the exact topic) Trump immediately made a statement about fixing the inner cities? Uh, what are you implying?

I thought Hillary dropped a really big opportunity to slam Trump when he was going on and on about "if only you were a better senator". She should have responded with something like "Well, Donald just did a wonderful job in displaying his ignorance on how our system of government is designed to work.". And then told him to re-read his 8th grade civics book.

He's going to have a brutal next two days as the fact checks rake him over the coals. And he only played to his already solid base, nothing new to bring in swing voters.
