I'll give you the God's honest truth...

I posted on a website that I was trying to obtain locations for REAL tombstones/headstones for people that happened to be historical folks that actually "contributed" to the location that I was working with (Tarrant County to begin with). I'd give you the list of names, but the dude erased everything that I posted. I'll still try.

A little background...I am trying to create a website with photos/background of those people that I am trying to create this site around. I'm not trying to make a profit, I'm simply trying to do something with my free time (something worthwhile). This is a not a for-profit site, at all.. Some people, apparently, think that their parents contribute more to society than they actually do. Those people get super butthurt and complain against me. I got banned from a group because of this.

A few examples of the people I plan to profile....Lee Harvery Oswald, Ben Hogan, Dimebag Darrell, Van Cliburn, etc. I can't make shit up with these people, and I'm not related to them in any way.

Anyone want to help me out with this? How else can I approach these subjects without pissing these people off?

It's not me trying to give these people a bad name, it's just the truth.

How would you feel if I profiled one of your grandfathers or grandmothers? I'm just throwing that out there so that no one feels like I'm providing a side benefit or whatever.

You don't know what "shitneck" is? You're Mayne. I'm sure you've been "shitnecked" before (not trying to be an asshole or anything).

I guess if it was me, I'd look up each individual and see if their tombstone/burial site is listed somewhere. If not, perhaps reach out to their relatives or related association. I wouldn't worry about pissing people off because I'd do it with tact and explain what I was doing, and if someone had a problem with that, f them. It's pretty benign what you're doing, at least I think, so I can't see that many people being genuinely "pissed off" at you. Sounds like you ran into some idiot kids, although there's two sides to every story I've come to realize.

What you want to do is good cause. Unfortunately, I don't support it either. Wait, now that I think about it, I'm actually against it.

I can see why others are pissed off at you. Grave sites are personal to them, and not some tourist attraction. They probably don't want people to flock to grave sites and unintentionally destroying and even sometimes desecrating the sites.

I've used it to find family member graves. It was easy to find Oswald's grave, however, there has been a legal battle to get the original headstone back. People keep stealing the darn thing. I read recently that because of so much foot traffic, they are going to remark the grave with his mother's maiden name.

Why anyone would want to visit Oswald's grave is beyond me.
