hehe, in MP Demo, you just use the 'test settings' button in the performance settings page

very comparable to my scores (i think my higher average would be due to my much higher clocked 6600GT)

That's very toasty for a PCIe version. You might want to remove the cooler and add some good T.I.M., then make certain it is seated well when reattaching. I went ahead and added the NV6 Rev.2, Ceramique, and passive cooling to the top ram chips, and now it overclocks better and never got over 53c after 3 straight runs in the bench. It is alos much quiter than the stock cooler that came with my eVGA.

With the 77.72's...
P4 D0 Prescott 3.0@3.75ghz
GeIL Ultra Plat 4000 1:1 w/ CPU (500mhz) 2.5/7-4-4
XFX 6600GT @ 590/590(1180)
F.E.A.R. MP demo, autodetected settings...

FPS
Min: 19
Avg: 30
Max: 73

FPS Distribution
38% < 25FPS
48% 25-40FPS
14% > 40FPS

Hope this helps. Looks like I got pwned by some people with (what should be) weaker systems. Maybe it's time to update my drivers?

Alright I updated to 81.85's, ALL OTHER THINGS BEING EQUAL. Please note that both times I ran the performance demo twice and took numbers from the second run, in the above post, and this one. Here are the new results:

FPS
Min: 25
Avg: 49
Max: 118

FPS Distribution
0% < 25FPS
44% 25-40FPS
56% > 40FPS

BIG improvement, eh? I couldn't believe it so I ran it a THIRD time (in a row) and..

FPS
Min: 23
Avg: 40
Max: 120

FPS Distribution
1% < 25FPS
44% 25-40FPS
55% > 40FPS

Well I'm happy

There is this thing called Quote, and it's great, because then we all know who you're talking to. I know you don't mean me, I definitely don't have a secondary [display, I assume].

I was really impressed with the performance boost from the new drivers. I've been reading some other pages here and I've noticed not many people are OCing their 6600GTs as high as mine. But then, I dropped the cheap XFX cooler like a bad habit. Stays below 62c at 590/590, thanks to my old P4 2.66 stock HSF and a little ceramique

With the stock Gigabyte PCIe cooler, I can OC the GT's to 583/1160 with temps under 60C (usu. @ 57 after hours of HL2 or FarCry). From reviews I read at time of purchase, the Gigabyte has the best 'factory' cooler and OC capability (at the time). I may grab a couple of the AC NV6 Rev.3 coolers to try out.

Hello everyone,

It seems that my max. is a bit off compared to you guys. If i remember i did run at 1024x768, AF 8x and high quality settings. Game setting are all max.
Vidcard could be at 550/1125 instead of 1100.
But i could missed something so will run the test in a couple of days to check things out.
Keep you posted.

By the way clock for clock in games the Xp is nothing compared to the amd64 there is simply a huge difference.
When i see that the results of Dug777 in his original post is 95 fps max and the amd64's do 85 max. then i think something is wrong.
Simple fact is that the fps on amd64 must be higher then on XP.
I had an xp2500+ overclocked to 2250 mhz but the amd64 is much better

Laters
You ran@8x6, that was the problem. I just kept all settings but reduced to 8x6 and our numbers are suddenly inline with each other

F.E.A.R., @10x7 with all the eye candy on, is too much for a 128mb 6600GT.

I'd suggest trying 8x6 with the XPs and see if that creates a larger gap in performance. If not, then even@8x6 with max settings minus Soft Shadows, the 6600GT is likely the bottleneck.

Well did run again and indeed resolution was at 8x6. New results:
21 - 46 - 84. That should be right

CPU at 2450Mhz
My mem runs at 420 Mhz 2,5-3-3-8 2T.
1T is instable.

Going to run cpu at 2603 Mhz, and mem at 384 Mhz (2-2-2-6, 1T)
Keep you posted

cheers mate.

i think my higher maximum is gpu dependant...at least that is the only explanation that is possible, given my 6600GT is clocked higher than anyone elses in the thread, and i get the highest fps...as we can see the avg and min is a different story

Blast it,

did run on 2603 mhz and 2-2-2-6 timings
and had the same results, so its the GPU thats holding back.
Raised from 2520 to 2603 with Clockgen and it worked.
But then tried to restart with CPU already at 2603 and......windows corrupt

@^%#&*^$@^$%*%$##@

Luckily have a magic cd so will try to get image back

Anybody has the agp pny 6600gt? I was wondering what speed memory it has, 2ns or faster? Also compared to the xfx one which one seems to be better?
