So far, I'm the only one that has a Hotspot in the #1 position. That is probably my most used feature when I travel.

I dont know why you guys like little or nothing on your screen. The point of a smart phone is to get information. I keep several widgets on my center page so I can get loads of useful info in one quick glance (weather, email, appointments). I dont have to waste time digging for stuff.
Anything that is one swipe away, I don't waste my time clogging valuable screen real estate.

That includes having things like...
1.) Super Clock widgets(I suppose if has vision problems, it may be useful). There is no need for it especially if it's already there in the status/notification bar or somewhere else on the screen. If those who use such widgets are able to get rid of having the time displayed in the notification bar, then I suppose it may be useful...But there's no need to have the time displayed in 2 different places on the same screen. Custom ROMs or running "Xposed with Gravity Box" can easily fix that.

2.) Google Now is one swipe away, therefore there is no need for me to have "weather " clogging up valuable real estate space or making my main screen look ridiculous. How often do people really check the weather? I'd wager it's probably no more than once a day, but even that is being too generous. Most people probably check once every 2-3 days.

3.) "Mobile hotspot" is already available in quick settings and is one swipe away. The same can be said about things like "Flashlight", "Settings", "GPS", "Bluetooth", and other toggles/widgets that are already available in "Quick settings" by pulling down the notification bar with a single swipe.

So far, I'm the only one that has a Hotspot in the #1 position. That is probably my most used feature when I travel.
Or probably because that is under quick settings which is one swipe away and there's no need for it to be on the main screen.

Yes, that is true, however, if that is all I need, why go through another swipe?

@ Red Storm

Is that what the new Google search / Now launcher looks like on the N5?

Nope, that's just an optional look offered by Nova Launcher for the search bar. I think it's the honeycomb one, which Android tablets had back in the day. I think it looks better than the current white bar.

Yeah, I stuck with the stock Google launcher / search box because it works better with my desktop background. If it's opaque then it looks like a London Underground logo in progress.

What Google Music icon?

Actually I guess its just the default android Music app. The little compact disc icon. At any rate, I never use it so I just got rid of it. I use poweramp, pocketcasts, and audible.

nice home screens. I do not see the need for these tho. is this a theme competition

Threads like these are easy ways of finding cool backgrounds/launchers/icons/themes/etc that you might not otherwise ever stumble across.

Some of them are downright ugly though.

Just changed my wallpaper to my summer theme. I like this set cause they're the same, but different.

Home screen...

Lock screen...

That's a fair point. Every important notifications pop up and I could glance. Weather is on the lock screen, and calendar and events one slide away from the home screen. It's just the home screen itself that's naked.

It's a classic trade-off of fashion vs. function (or something like that) and I do sometimes change it up and put widgets.

Yep, I don't like clutter. My screens on either side of my "home" screen are lot more busy with widgets and icons. Everything is a thumb swipe left or right that I need easily. Also with my wearable I get quick previews of texts and emails and also meeting reminders to make my phone even less necessary.

Just got a Moto X (2013) this afternoon, so I haven't had much time to do much to customize it except unlock the bootloader, root, and install a custom Lollipop ROM (XenonHD... really clean and snappy so far) and change the wallpaper. But it's probably mostly going to stay the same.

EDIT: updated
