We went to Best Buy about 1/2 hour before they closed. They were selling mine as a display model. It was orginally $2,499.99 and they were asking $1,699.99 Ha! If you look closely at the pic, on the bottom right hand side, you will find a tiny dimed sized hole in the speaker covering. Everything works perfectly.

We offered the kid $1,000.00 cash, and he went red faced. We asked for a manager. We offered him $1,000.00 cash and he said ok, if I took the 4yr. warranty for $300.00, which I would have anyway. He asked if I needed a DVD player and I took one of those, open box for $70.00 (originally $249.99) and he covered that under the warranty, too.

New, they are around what I paid then.

There's some really pathetic speaker placement on display here!

Having one of your speakers 2 inches from a side wall just does wonders
for imaging and overall tonality!!

People spend thousands and thousands of dollars on bad ass amps,
overpriced processors, snake oil speaker cables, sub-woofers that overpower
the room.... and then cram it all into the corner of room, 'cause wifey doesn't
like proper speaker placement.

The room you choose to place your equipment in is probably the single most
important factor to setting up a good HT or Stereo system...

My brother in law does speaker placement design for Dolby in movie theaters. He grinds his teeth every time he visits my house. LoL

I thought it was better to have the bass/subwoofer closer to wall to it reverberates more. I dunno, thats what the instructions said on my altec lansing comp speakers.

Replacement bulb prices can be scary; I've got a couple of projectors (Sharp xg-nv5u) with burned-out lamps and the cheapest I can find a replacement lamp is $483.

Just to let you know, I've heard taking replacement lamps out and putting them back in sometimes works. I don't own a projector, nor never did, but I've heard of people saving hundreds of dollar by surprise like this

I could sure use a surprise like that--but I've already taken the lamps out so I could check them with a multimeter (open circuit, alas) and didn't help. Someone else mentioned to me that she thought you could remove the bulbs from the lamp module and find generic versions of those a lot cheaper if you could figure out what type they were. I'll probably give that a try when I next have a suitable flash of inspiration.

My boyfriend said to tell you that he is very impressed!

To be honest... dont tell him I told you...he was blown away.

Thanks! (and I promise I won't tell)

As long as people are posting their bedroom setups and such (and asking about the racks themselves),
this is the rack in my editing room
(The "equipment rack" is a power rack that I'd replaced with a more flexible model.)
and this is the setup in the listening room
(the "rack" is some weird computer "workstation furniture" that I bought at a garage sale for five dollars and the rectangular black columns are the redundant-processing computers that controlled the original version of Denver International Airport's baggage system (the one that ate people's luggage))

Most of the other racks I have are just standard aluminum relay racks.

Hee, I love how clear it is in most of these cases who is married and who isn't

The TV may be yours, but the space around it is ALL hers

Will post mine later.

I do the best I can. That room's actually the biggest one I have. Only temporary though, moving soon.... You'd be suprised though by how well it images despite the room it's in.

I tried all the short wall, equilateral traingle, etc placements. The long wall worked the best. The room's just too small for the speakers to be pulled further from the side walls and create a decently wide image.

The sub can overpower the room if I let it but it's set properly to blend and only fill in the lowest bass that the mains can't put out. It only fills out the frequency range, not belch out overwhelming sloppy bass.

As far as wifey, I'm glad not to have one. (at least for now) I'm sure the messiness and homemade racks would not go over well. I'd stick to my guns, but that would likely leave me without lovin for a while.

The reality is that we often don't have any choice what room the HT goes in,
much less it's dimensions!

A nice wife (even a picky one) can smooth out any bad imaging problems...

That's why when i'm asked for advice on what to spend the most money on in
a HT setup i always say - get the biggest display you can afford.

Long wall should be fine. While equilateral triangle may be great for music, 60 degrees is closer to ideal for movies.

Here's my setup...

Samsung Widescreen HDTV 26" (Small as hell but it fits the room I guess)
Harman Kardon AVR 230
Hughes HTL-HD directv HDTV box (Man I hate this thing, I wish I still had my samsung TS160)
Athena Point 5 MKII 5 speaker setup
Sony Subwoofer (basic stuff)
Panasonic VCR
Sony 5 disc DVD player
Harmon Kardon TC-1000 Remote
Sony PS2(not shown)
Zenith Silver Sensor HDTV antenna (coming soon, rabbit ears look funny huh?)

It suits me well I guess, nothing compared to some of the setups shown. I need to put something under my TV stand, it's really low to the ground and is annoying to look down on the TV. If I put bricks it would definately damage the floor, I might put wood or something to get 6 inches higher. Suggestions? Comments?

Setup
Movie Collection (I have about 20 more around the house, we're really messy)
