Let's talk about ice cream

I just bought this from Vons

And it's fucking amazing. Like really amazing. I couldn't stop eating it. I went through half of the pint without noticing and was sad that I had to stop.

I love Talenti and all their ice creams and so far this has been their best.

I used to be a big fan of Talenti but I think something changed with their ingredients/recipe. It tastes cheap now and not as good. I stopped buying it. My go to cheap ice cream is Publix Greenwise Organic vanilla/chocolate.

Edit: I'm thinking of Ataúlfo mangos, aka champagne (yellow) mangos, one of the best-tasting things you can eat on this earth. They blow regular mangos out of the water. I bet that ice cream is delicious!

I'll have to try carob gum in my homemade ice cream, never heard of it!

All of it. I used to buy like $100 worth every time Publix ran B1G1 sale. That happened couple times every summer. Talenti is based out of Atlanta, GA so I think they did lot of regional marketing/sales trying to capture market share.

Yeah it took a long time for my Vons to start carrying the sorbetti. They had the raspberry first and barely saw the mango yesterday. I think they will keep on doing it though since it looks like the sorbetti are selling out quick. I had the second to last mango.

The wife just picked up Publix Moose Tracks, it's not Greenwise but still one of my favorites.

Agreed, Talenti's Alphonso mango sorbetto is very, very good. Also one of their few flavors I still eat as a vegan.
I need to try their Roman Raspberry.

I posted this in a prior thread and the follow-up discussion scared me off. Summary: Trader Joe's ice cream doesn't melt.

Trader Joe's ice cream is great for the price too. It's my second choice after Publix Greenwise Organic ice cream.

The regular french vanilla kind? It most certainly does melt. And look at the ingredients: Cream, milk, sugar, egg yolks, vanilla flavor, carob bean gum, and guar gum. How would that not melt?

The ingredients for Costco's Kirkland-brand premium ice cream are the same (except Kirkland says vanilla extract instead of vanilla flavor, not sure if there's a difference), but for some reason I seem to prefer the Kirkland brand to TJ's.

Yah they do a lot of exclusivity deals which I hate so I might not care for them that much anymore despite how few times I have had them. Last time I had one of their tubs it was good but not OMFG this is so good type of shit. They seem to be too much into marketing and corporate bullshit.

I do believe it's the Guar Gum that affects the way it melts.
