i'm working through some talenti vanilla bean. it aint got shit on haagen dazs vanilla bean.

My newspaper had a taste off on vanilla ice cream not long ago and rated Trader Joe's French Vanilla very high, if you don't mind a slightly cloying sweetness accent. It's a lot of bang for the buck at $5.99/half-gallon. Going to pick up another this week.

Last time I bought Häagen-Dazs I was extremely disappointed, their butter pecan couldn't begin to compete with that I made at home with my machine, it was just ridiculous. That was maybe 3 years ago. I haven't bought any Häagen-Dazs since.

These are deglet noor. I leave them in the plastic container (unrefrigerated), I suppose it's not a perfect seal, but once opened the dates still remain fairly moist after a year or so... I suppose they may be a little dry now. I've been eating a few out of hand the last few days, they are OK.

Yup, those have been hydrated & probably have added glucose. That's not a bad thing though, it means you don't have to freeze them in order to have them stay good. iirc they say a month in the fridge & a year in the freezer for fresh ones to stay soft. Hydrated, they last a super long time & stay gooey.

Bahris are amazing, although they can be a bit tedious to eat if you want to eat a lot because the seed is like 50% the fruit haha. Medjools are great too, I can't remember if I linked this already, but if you have some Medjools, make sure you make some Snickers bars, they are GREAT!

I actually love Cold Stone. They have a knock off place up here called Marble Slab, but it's not even close to being as good. They do have a few Cold Stones in Tim Horton's stores here, but they are few and far between unfortunately.

Coldstone has good ice cream. I don't see why anyone would knock the quality. Around here they seem to have a hard time building enough of a business to support the retail outlets. One nearby location closed a year ago.
