OK..so here goes. First off, I want to avoid cliches in this. I would like to try and discuss this with respect and dignity. My background? I'm a white 40 year old male who works in corp America. My ex wife is asian, and my current gf/SO is black. So here are my points:

1. Why is reverse racism accepted? I saw a rerun of Ray Nagin's comments about making New Orleans "chocolate" again. WTF! How is this tolerated? You know if a white mayor made ANY hint of racism like that he would not only be out of work, but crucified in the media.

2. Why as a white American cant I wear a t-shirt saying "Proud White American" without being labled as a racist? I see all kinds of t-shirts with black pride, asian pride, american indian pride, etc. And why cant we start a white american college fund? Every race of american has their own exclusive scholorships, excepts whites. Why?

3. One thing so many conservatives AND liberals love to do is quote our founding fathers, and their intentions with the framing of our constitution. Does anyone really think our founding fathers intended for anyone other than white men to vote? Or to REALLY have equal rights? I doubt it. Most of them kept slaves. If they were gung-ho about equality, why did they not stand up for women and slaves' rights? It really wasnt until Abe Lincoln that our government attempted to include anyone other than white men in rights.

4. Why are so many stereotypes TRUE, but no one will admit it? Numbers dont lie. Does the white man force blacks to instigate more violence upon themselves than any other race? Does the white man really have anything to do with the fact that the majority of our prison population is black? Does the white man make blacks do worse on tests? Why do such a larger percentage of blacks fail to graduate and score high on college admission tests? Is it really the white man's fault?

5. Why do white's suck at sports? Sure there are exceptions, but the exceptions MAKE the rule. I'm sorry, but blacks are more talented, more fluid, stronger, have more endurance, and more dexterious than whites. Why?

OK Thats it for now. Like I said I'd like to discuss this with respect. And yes, my current gf and I discuff stuff like this all the time. If you heard some of the things that come out of her mouth you might say she was a white racist...but she's black.

Discuss.

I heard a funny sound bit this morning on the radio.

"A recent survey showed NYC is 80% minority, wouldnt you think at the 80% point they cease to be a minority? So a white guy goes to South Africa and cant believe how many minorities he see's?"

Personally I think to many people get hung up on the color of ones skin. Skin color is the scapegoat for the true underlying issues imo. The real issue is a clash of cultures.

Considering the last thread on this issue was locked, even though the discussion in it was completely civil, I doubt this thread will survive very long.

for the win!

But that's not how it's portrayed in the Media or in the "proud" cultures.

Many have the attitude you can't be racist unless your white. Strange attitude I say. Which is why some like to call it reverse racism.

1. because the minority will never be powerful enough to threaten the majority, so you can hype up blacks all you want.

2. White Power movements do a ton of damage to black people and refers to people like the KKK and other white supremacists that use to lynch black people, burn crosses, carry out raides, etc... Black powerful originated from the civil rights movement, and aimed for equality. Totally different standards. And referring back to #1, the minority is the ones that should be protected from the majority, not the other way around.

3. waaay back in the days of our founding fathers, and during the revolution era, the people who populated the United States were mainly white people, and for the few blacks that were brought over as slaves, it was out of old European customs.

4. Correlation != causation. I'm willing to bet socioeconomic factors havea much greater effect than race, and more poor people happen to be black.

5. if you're talking about the NBA, it sorta goes in waves... lots of white people during the ABA than black people, and now back to white people, especially with the flood of Europeans and maybe even 2 or three chinese!

"reverse racism" is a term I've never actually heard in real life. I heard it ONCE on TV, and couple times on the internet. It doesn't really seem to have any meaning.
