These do look good in the right setting/right build.

I am sure many here look like ass most days yet think they are straight ballin'.

No, they don't. These kind of "extravagant" knots are overdoing it. Doesn't matter if it's with a suit or a sweater, if you're tick or thin. If you need a wider knot, go with a Pratt or Windsor. A tie should match the suit and shirt, if you want to stick out, pick a tie that isn't one-colored. There is no need, whatsoever, for these ridiculous looking knots. They are not interesting, they are not stylish.

I am sure you fit the persona you described, at least judging by the tie knot you choose.

Wrong. They do not look good on any setting or build. They are some silly "extravagance" that only a child or a complete tool would use to "look different". Let me give you some advice: in 99% the real world, how you look means very little unless it is outside the wide range of "acceptable"; to which, these knots are not in any setting.

I can see the hipsters trying to "look different" by using some knot nobody has every heard of, feeling so proud and smugly looking down upon the "conformists" while wearing the same thick rimmed Rayban knock offs they got at a "thrift" store every other hipster has a pair of.

So, if you want to look like you're a manager at a Starbucks with a masters in Medieval historic literature, go ahead and use one of those you mentioned. If you want to look like a professional that isn't a complete moron, use a half Windsor or full Windsor.

If you want to go nowhere in life, wear a clip on.

I hate to break it to you, but how you look goes along way over getting just by with 'acceptable' if you are in any kind of real position.

No one is going to trust a CEO much that shows up in a Casio digital watch, $100 suit and a pair of $30 wingtips.

Hell, there are books and classes given on this. To paraphrase, "you have to look like money to make money".

Also going one step beyond, that guy that someone like you thinks is a tool for wearing a full suit in an office where only management does and the rest of the worker bees have the 'luxury' of even jeans. Probably has something to do with him eventually making it into management and Joe Wranglers being in the same position for 10+ years.

You are of the typical belief that all of this is pretentious and unneeded and that everyone is scored equally based on 'acceptable'.

I haven't chose any of these. I like the four in hand mostly for convenience and go windsor/half windsor for special occasions. The biggest limit is my neck and height makes many ties too short to tuck so a tie pin/bar is needed to keep the small end neat.

Most of these knots are pictured much more close up than any would see them. Many aren't noticeable anymore than DVC's Prada Blacks over standard office fare.

CEO and fashion icon Mark Zuckerberg needs to chime in.

I'm sure Richard Branson wears one of Alky's "fabulous" knots.

I'd have to kick my own ass if I even thought this was fashionable or proper in any environment.

$80, and they'll be done by EOW. I've taken a few pairs to them before, and they've really done a fantastic job.

I was initially going to send them to AE, but the wait time was well over a month

could you post some pictures after it has been resole by your cobbler?

In addition, depending on your size, there are still plenty of the AE for Brooks Brothers Fifth Aves for $199 at the Shoebank, and other than some minor broguing on the cap, they're virtually the same as Park Aves.

They sell acid-washed mom jeans at Neiman Marcus? And you're shopping at NM despite making less than six figures, with a house in foreclosure and while supporting a girlfriend and her three kids (and, I assume, paying something to the ex as well)? Play on, playa . . .

Oh snap, it's on.

Don Vito Corleone for Elite, again.

Have fun with the acid-washed mom jeans...didn't know about them, don't shop in that section.

How do you like them with your Old Navy cutoff and half shirt selection?

Scary dress code to me, funny you hate modern tie knots...I understand now why your Prada Black Labels are so dear to your heart.

Did RossMan help you shop?

So just move the strap on the backside of the tie higher up

Even more of a reason not to use them.

Are these prices in store? or are they only available at the outlet? Trying to figure out if I
1) should go to a local boutique today/tomorrow to try sizes, e-mail and/or buy. or
2) drive to Maine on Saturday/Sunday.

I have a few pairs, I wear dress shoes every day.

Bruno Magli, To Boot New York, Mezlan, and of course some waterproof Rockports.
Bruno Magli leather is soft as butter. Most comfortable shoe I've ever had.

You're clearly confused.

The biggest example in this thread, attorneys, need to look pretty decent. A lawyer in a shabby suit is usually a shabby lawyer. But it's still not 'fashion.'

OTOH, there are plenty of millionaires to include CEO's that look like utter shit. Usually the types that you will find parking an decade-old Toyota at their giant house; they have money because they don't blow it on dumb shit. Like looking like a complete tool.

Buy hey, you're not rich and you put extra effort into looking/behaving like said complete tool. Good job.

Good luck with your cliche lifestyle.

I bet you think you are living like a CEO in a smaller house.

Fight the good fight bro!

Is it me or are "Allen Edmonds" shoes designed for grey haired males that double fist viagra/cialis?

As a 30 something male, I just can't look at AE shoes and say "damn that looks good".
