Kobe having surgery today, Out 6-9 months which puts him back at start of next season.

6-9 months perhaps for someone who hasn't played 17 seasons already. He has too much mileage to recover that quickly. It isn't a matter of determination or grit, people's bodies just work differently after 30 and that just accelerates each year.

An achilles injury in basketball is a pretty serious matter, and at the age of 35 with his physical skillset already in major decline it could be the end for Kobe. The best case scenario timewise is that he will be back playing after the all star break but he will be a shell of his former self.

Since he will likely be out the majority of next season, if not all of it, does LA amnesty him? The amnesty would save them roughly $80 after luxury tax. Not bad savings for someone who isn't likely to play a meaningful part of the season for them.

Kobe posted this on his facebook page last night:

"This is such BS! All the training and sacrifice just flew out the window with one step that I've done millions of times! The frustration is unbearable. The anger is rage. Why the hell did this happen ?!? Makes no damn sense.

Now I'm supposed to come back from this and be the same player Or better at 35?!? How in the world am I supposed to do that??

I have NO CLUE. Do I have the consistent will to overcome this thing? Maybe I should break out the rocking chair and reminisce on the career that
was. Maybe this is how my book ends.

Maybe Father Time has defeated me...Then again maybe not! It's 3:30am, my foot feels like dead weight, my head is spinning from the pain meds and I'm wide awake.

Forgive my Venting but what's the purpose of social media if I won't bring it to you Real No Image?? Feels good to vent, let it out. To feel as if THIS is the WORST thing EVER!

Because After ALL the venting, a real perspective sets in. There are far greater issues/challenges in the world then a torn achilles.

Stop feeling sorry for yourself, find the silver lining and get to work with the same belief, same drive and same conviction as ever.

One day, the beginning of a new career journey will commence. Today is NOT that day.

"If you see me in a fight with a bear, prey for the bear". (I've) always loved that quote. Thats "mamba mentality" we don't quit, we don't cower, we don't run. We endure and conquer.

I know it's a long post but I'm Facebook Venting LOL. Maybe now I can actually get some sleep and be excited for surgery tomorrow. First step of a new challenge.

Guess I will be Coach Vino the rest of this season. I have faith in my teammates. They will come thru.

Thank you for all your prayers and support. Much Love Always.

Mamba Out"

Kobe posted this on his facebook page last night:

That's keeping it pretty real. Gotta feel for him. If it was someone like Vince Carter, I'd think 'who gives a fvck.' But Kobe has always worked his @ss off to be in great shape and improve his game thru the years.

I expect him to come back and come back fairly strong, if for no other reason than to have an opportunity to get revenge on Dahnte Jones.

The thing about injuries though, is that the will to overcome isn't enough alot of times. Your body just doesn't do what you want it to do anymore.

Good game between the Spurs and Lakers.. Even though I would root for the Spurs on most nights the prospects of Lakers in the playoffs sans Kobe intrigues me. How about Duncan tonight? He had them young man's legs. LOL

I couldn't believe my eyes when saw the stats on this kid. Not because it's off the chart amazing, but due to how pedestrian it is. 10 pts. a game with blown ACL and you get drafted number 1? Are you serious?

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Kentucky All-American forward and No. 1 NBA draft prospect Nerlens Noel will turn professional as he continues recovering from a torn ACL.

The 6-foot-10 freshman, who sustained a season-ending knee injury on Feb. 12, led the nation with 4.4 blocks per game and averaged 10.5 points and 9.5 rebounds.

I stopped following college hoops a few years back, but based on that description I feel comfortable thinking of him as the next Greg Oden. He had similar pedestrian numbers and injury concerns which translated into pedestrian numbers and injuries in the NBA.

There are so many players with "pedestrian" stats in college who do well in the NBA, that the comp makes no sense. They're also completely different players. Greg Oden was a far superior prospect (much bigger too), with a ton of hype surrounding him. Noel, on the other hand, is going to benefit from a terrible draft class, with not that much hype. If anything, teams would pick him No. 1 also because they can stash him and have a good chance to suck again and get another top 3 pick.

I would also say that averaging near a double-double and over 4 blocks per game is hardly "pedestrian," although he did play in a terrible conference.

For a number one overall player, that is pedestrian. As a 15th pick those numbers are fine.

did anyone else catch the hour long special ESPN ran on Dwyane Wade? I didn't really know anything about his past, was pretty crazy everything he went thru with his mom. I thought it was really well done. Does ESPN do these on a regular basis? Outside of watching Bayless & Smith bitch back and forth at each other I really don't watch ESPN.

Say what you will but the Indiana Pacers are the third best team in the NBA. Legitimate title contenders.
1. Heat
2. Thunder
3. Indiana

I dont know anything about his mom but I know he had a crazy divorce battle with his ex-wife for their kids. Glad the judge saw through her bullshit and awarded him full custody. I think it took him years to get that.

Kobe's gotten so good at Twitter, if I needed someone to make the last tweet of the night, it would be him.

Tweet from Norman Chad.

I didn't hear what D'Antoni said about Kobe's tweets, but love or hate Stephen A., he rips him a pretty good here.

Oden had one leg a lot shorter than the other; that's beyond "concerns," it's uncharted territory. He also looked like he was 40. Noel just had an ACL, not that big of a deal these days. Plus he's got the awesome hi fade.

The other thing is, if you don't like Noel, who do you take over him?

Reporter basically asked D'Antoni how he felt about Kobe's tweet and he just said that right now Kobe is only sitting in the position of being a "fan". Basically inferring he has no say/influence in the team's operation.

Although I wouldnt say that to Kobe, the whole Kobe and Phil tweeting each other about the game was awkward lol.

Good win for spurs, I think they will take lakers in 6 games. 3rd game will be interesting to watch, home game for Lakers and they will play like there's no tomorrow. and Kobe's Tweets provided good lulz and Dwight's comments about it in the press conference was icing on the cake

I hoped Rockets would put up a tougher fight... very embarrassing loss... looks like its 4-0 for this round

Lebaby James, as usual treated NBA as his personal bitch, admonishing and threatening the referees every time they looked at him. David might as well give the trophy to him now and be done with it and let the rest of the league play some honest basketball. 4-0 here as well.

Pretty weak game between GSW and Denver... sorry to see David Lee out for the rest of the saeson.... that round is pretty much decided as well. 4-0 here too
