Props to F@twallet for this one.

get the Radio Shack Flyer for this month from the store -
on page 26, in the fine print under the 128 mb Lexar JumpDrive -
256 mb lexar jumpdrive on sale $69.99

take the Radio Shack Flyer to Circuit City - be polite..ask for a price match on the 256 jumpdrive.

when you buy the JumpDrive for 69.99, two rebates will print out (total $30.00 rebate from C.C, copies of UPC code requested)
then go to this site

LINKY

and print out a manufacturers rebate worth $10.00. Circuit City is an authorized reseller.

presto - $69.99 - $15 - $15 - $10 = $29.99 (+tax) after all rebates

i just did it and it works.

not a bad price for a 256 mb 2.0 USB pen drive

Dumb question, when you remove the CF from the JumpDrive enclosure it can be used as regular CF (in digicams/PDA's) right?

the memory is built into the adapter... so i dont' htink you can use it as a CF module by itself.

rossman,

you can't remove it. this isn't one of those that you can open up and take stuff out of it. it's a smaller blue one. i got this one a while ago from amazon.com when they had it for this price.

Thanks for the info. I had assumed the USB JumpDrive was a removable enclosure and you could just "harvest" the CF media.

Oops

Newbie question but, when they price match don't they usually give 10% of the difference?

Just click this link and print out and PM @ CC.

CC Link
CC page contains 3 rebate links but checked all two are same so.

$99.99 (Price at CC)
-$30.00 (PM with RS)
-$7 (10% discount)
-$40 ($15+$15+$10 rebates)
Total: $22.99 + tax.

the jumpdrive is a sealed translucent plastic gizmo. you can just see the memory, but it is not removable....unless you are mighty good with tools. i suppose somebody will eventual "hack" the jumpdrive!

the C.C. rebates are only for purchases made after 10/26/03

the manufacturer rebate good for purchases after 9/01/03

better get the flyer from radio shack quick before they change it

do drivers need to be installed to use this on a windows computer? or do you just plug it in and windows recognizes it as a drive?

From the material I got with mine: Windows XP and 2000 don't need any drivers to recognize this. You need to download a driver from their website for Win98.

That's not right. They give you 10% off the difference, not the total price. So it'd be:

99.99
-30.00
- 3.00
-40
total: 26.99 + (sales tax for $66.99)

I got this exact same model from Dell S&P back in May for about $50 after two rebates, a smokin' deal at the time. Yes indeed, it does what Lexar claims it will do. W2K and XP see it just like they would an HD, except the damn thing is instantaneously fast. I'm jumping all over this, if I can pull it off. I want a second one.

Any idea on actual speeds on this thing for USB2? I have a Sandisk Cruzer Mini that gets 3-3.5MB/s under USB2. Just wondering if this was any faster?

Thanks,
Brian

I have been using this drive for about 6 months & it is awesome. The only minor gripe is that the cap falls off easily (I lost mine about 5 months ago!).

As for the drivers, yes, it will work with native drivers that come with Win 2000, ME & XP.
For Win 98, you can download drivers from the website & I don't believe this drive works with Win NT at all.

Can I use this to boot ? I have been doing research and I can't find a Yes or NO answer. My motherboard has USB-ZIP, USB-HDD boot selections.

Thanks in advance

well, according to the specs, for 200 mb of data, it has a transfer rate on the jumpdrive 2.0 pro <50 seconds. so it should be around 4mb/s. but it is rated as 40x which is 6mb/s. but mostly likely if you use this on a computer at any campus, you won't be able to get max speed transfer, so it really does not matter unless you have a 2.0 usb port on your own computer and plan to only use it on your own computer.

I think it depends on your system.. some systems can, some can't.

Pricematching doesn't revoke your ability to submit the rebate, does it?

I pricematched the JumpDrive to the RS flyer without incident, but when it printed out the rebate forms, the customer service rep didn't give them to me. She said that I got the $30 rebate as an "instant" due to the pricematch.

Is there anywhere that states I don't qualify for the rebates if I PM to somewhere else?

Should I go back and demand the rebate reciept, or should I just save the hassle and print out the forms from the website and send those in?

Or did I do it in the wrong order? Should I have bought the item at full price first, then come back to do the PM after I had gotten the receipt and rebates with full price on them?

wow, that is something i never heard about before. the last time i price matched a hard drive at circuit city to another store, i had no problems with the rebates. but i have heard stories about certain CSR noting on the receipt that it is not eligible for rebates. The CSR who worked with me did not mention anything when she gave me my price adjustment recepits and i think she threw away my rebate receipts also. i do not think anything will go against your qualifications for rebates, but if you really want to make sure, then i would suggest going to the store and ask. i am pretty sure you are eligible for the rebates though.

you need not worry about anything..

all the rebate forms are available ONLINE!
all you need to do is buy the jumpdrive for 69.99 at circuit city, and have a receipt to prove it.

go to the circuit city site online, look up the lexar jumpdrive..links to the two rebate forms provided
go to the manufacturers rebate site posted above to get the other rebate

no problem!

Cool.

I'd already gone to the website to confirm that I could get the 2 rebate forms myself, but I wanted to make sure that:

a) There was nowhere that said I couldn't get the rebates due to PM
b) The rebate forms printed with the receipt weren't inherently more "valid" than the online ones.

BTW, my receipt shows I paid ~ $66.99 + tax due the 110% pricematch policy. Hopefully that isn't an issue.
