I think this is a repost.

Anyway, there is a valid $40 rebate from Lexmark on these. Before ordering I talked to Carol in customer service and confirmed these are new, in factory boxes and not refurbs. The UPC and model number match those of other sites that mentioned rebates.

Just make sure they are: Mfr. Part #: 18H0770, UPC #: 734646379496
when you order.

Beware. It says INK AND CABLE NOT INCLUDED. I believe these ship from Lexmark with ink cartridges. Sounds as if this dealer may be removing and reselling them elsewhere.

So I guess everyone's hitting this deal cuz the site's really slow, but the printer is now listed at $9.99 plus shipping ... but site says that u MAKE $30 off this AR of $40?! Has anyone ever MADE money off a single item like this before, or would I probably just be given $9.99 back because that's all I paid

Pay attention to the part number and UPC I posted.

They also have the printer without ink for $9.xx and have for some time. That one is NOT valid for the rebate.

edited: Note that the link in the first post in this thread is being redirected. You will see in the URL that the Dartek item # was 13953. The page that comes up NOW lists item 14185. There is even a disclaimer at the top of the page. Notice that this one does not even list a manufacturers part number or UPC like 13953 did (see my post above) so you can't even verify with Lexmark if it is elligeable for the rebate.

I am certain that 14185 is the one they were selling for $9 a few days ago as the description is the same. I suspect they just raised the price to $40. They say its good for a $40 rebate but I wouldn't trust them. Lexmark did not package new Z45SEs without ink cartridges. The only way this is valid is if they are opening the boxes and removing the ink (to sell individually?).

Also, since they are no longer listing a manufactures part# or UPC, I will mention something Lexmark Rebate center told me before I placed my order on Friday: there have been problems with some on-line retailers selling the printers in their own boxes rather than the Lexmark boxes. Those are not valid for the rebate because they don't have the Lexmark proof of purchase (UPC). That's why I confirmed my order was for a Z45SE in the factory box (see earlier post for UPC and Manufacturer part number).

Be careful on this "new" flavor of the deal.

These items are back in stock. Here's the complete info, to make your shopping easier.

Dartek (located in IL) has the Z45se (no ink) printers back in stock for FAR.

http://www.dartek.com/ItemDetails/i...8&CMP=EM21034&CP=EB3237&REF=3237&ItemNo=13953

American Computech (located in Ohio) has the same deal here:

http://www.americancomputech.com/printable_description.asp?iid=201

Depending on location, taxes/shipping may be cheaper from one or the other.

$40 MIR (limit 5)

And without ink, this isn't very warm at all. The inkjet cartridges are pretty pricey, cheapo generics are not available, and in the end, if you buy the cartridges, you'll find that the print quality is only fair. Very good for black and white text, mediocre for color images.

Two packs of the both black and color cartridges are available at your major office supply stores. They're blister packaged, so they're sealed against the environment. If you buy 2 or 3 two-packs and use a coupon, the ink suddenly becomes relatively inexpensive. The Photo cartridges are the killers, but that's life.

I have a Lexmark 3200 and Z51 right now. This printer uses the same cartridges, which is nice because I don't have to have several different types around.

I'd also point out that for an amateur reseller, the limit of 5 per household is pretty nice. I ordered 5 and my out-of-pocket cost will be $31.37 (shipping and a stamp for the rebate). It makes a nice $20-$30 add-on when selling a computer system.

Joe

BTW, does anyone know of a good review on actual photo printers (the ones that specifically do 4x6, 5x7, 8x10, etc.)? I'd like to get one.

I own a Z51, a Z53, a Z31 and maybe another...I've been through a lot of Lexmarks over the years...They are all doggy by today's standards. None of them can touch something like a HP 5550 (current model printer available for < $100 on sale), except for printing text. None of them can touch any Epson of the past several years, even a cheap Epson, for photo quality, either. But Epsons have such problems with head clogging that I no longer recommend them to anyone...

A cheap Lexmark that comes WITH the ink cartridges is an OK value...But I don't think any of these Lexmarks is worth the investment in ink.

Mine were delivered Yesterday. I ordered the original ones with the UPC codes listed above. They were NIB and most importantly had the proof of purchase lables required for the rebates. Its a good size label and contains the UPC in it.

Whover first gets the mystery printers (without cartridges) please post if they have a valid proof of purchase label. Click here to see a Proof of Purchase

The CSR I have been corresponding with in email at Dartek assured me that the Z45SE printers without ink and cable qualify for the rebate. I should get mine early next week as I'm in Minnesota and they're coming from Illinois.

BTW, the topic of this thread should be FAR (free after rebate) + shipping.

Oh, and remanufactred ink cartridges are available all over the place for this printer for about $23 a piece.

Check this page.

Scroll to the Lexmark Z45se section.

Dartek #3237-14185 - Lexmark Z45se No Cartridges - $ 9.99

Dartek #3237-13953 - Lexmark Z45se w/Cartridges - $39.99

PRICES GOOD UNTIL 5/15/03 OR WHILE QUANTITIES LAST!

Wonder if the $9.99 qualifes for the $40 rebate. I have a Lexmark Z53 and they use the same ink cartridges.

Also its the same company/different division as this and this. I wonder if they allow will-calls/local pick-up to save on shipping. I live about 27 miles from their location.

I think what they've done is start charging $39.99 for the "no ink/cable" printers since the rebate applies.

If you click on those links for the $9.99 and $39.99 you will see they now link to the $40 without ink printers. So there aren't any for $9.99 anymore. The ones both link to are indeed the same ones they were selling for $9.99 until they realized they could charge $40 to people who believe there is a rebate. On the good side, they have added the UPC and Lexmark model back into the description and it is identical to the printer that comes with the ink. Since the page had no UPC or model listed at first and now does, its not likely the UPC and model are just left over from updating a different page. So it appears that they are indeed, opening the boxes and just taking the ink out to sell separately.

There's a lengthy posting on this on-again/off-again deal over at F**wallet. The rebate permits up to 5 separate $40 rebates per address. Someone pointed out that legendmicro.com is selling a "5-pack" of this printer for $150 (FYI shipping was $20 extra by FedEx ground to my location, vs. over $40 shipping costs from the two other companies mentioned above). Posters who did the legendmicro deal got rebate-worthy retail boxes that had been opened, presumably to remove the ink cartridges, similar to the units now being sold by Dartek. FYI!

Especially since the printers lack cables and the costly ink cartridges, they're rather worthless to me. My plan is to collect the rebates then donate the printers to my kids' tech-starved Catholic school. Nice tax deduction, school benefits too.

Haven't shopped the ink yet, but I understand there is a $25 off $75 coupon for OfficeDepot.com out there. Could help.

Got 5 printers today, and they're all in retail boxes. Note that the boxes say that it comes with ink, but no USB cable, so Dartek is pulling the ink to sell separately.

All-in-all, a great deal on 5 new printers for $31.00 total after rebates.

Got mine from Legend Micro. No ink, but box intact. What does the SE stand for, because the printer itself doesn't say that...just Z45.

My work is ordering me the inks, so I've no issue with the no ink included.

$8 (shipping) for a printer is good for me.

Do not call Lexmark and tell them you didn't get ink with your printer if you buy these - they will not give you free ink even though the box says it is included. Lexmark is aware that vendors are pulling the carts. Just a tip.

Also, SE means "Special Edition", as in the company you just bought the printer from just ripped you off special.
