Lexus IS250 engine problems

Is it true that because of it's direct injection the valves are getting excessive residue buildup? I have witnessed first hand what feels like bogging, stopped at a traffic light and was wondering if this could be the cause...(It's my mom's car). Doesnt happen all the time but was wondering if anybody has experienced this. Does it get worse over time?

Never heard that before and I can't think of a possible reason as to why that would be true. As far as the bogging, can you provide anymore information on that?

My wife and I own a 2006 IS250 and she has complained that the engine sometimes stumbles briefly when coming to a stop but never upon acceleration. It is very intermittent but I've felt it myself on occasion. Of course, the dealership says they cannot duplicate it the few times we've taken it in and mentioned it. It has never stalled or failed to start though, and other than going through tires quickly it has been a great car. We have 57,000 miles on it now and we are the original owners.

The powertrain warranty is good until 70,000 miles so I might take it in and complain some more if we keep noticing it or it gets worse.

HPFP related?

I know BMWs and some VWs with DI hate the gas we have here and have to have the HPFPs cleaned/replaced because they get clogged easily. Theres a retrofit for a bigger fuel filter available for the 2.0T motor because of it

Is it a problem with the Toyota DI engines? Not that I'm aware of. I've heard that Toyota uses both port and DI, that way the intake valves stay clean as opposed to the DI-only setup on the VW 2.0T.
