This is an LG 60PN5700 smart TV with build in Wi Fi. It is a 2013 model and is very good- for the price excellent. Many smart features including browser. The LG Magic Remote and Touch Pin are not included but work with this set and can be purchased separately, online....Amazon, eBay etc for around $60 for Magic Remote (which has voice activation and other features. Not sure about the Touch Pin costs. The regular remote is ok and a free LG App is available that works great on Android or OIS devices. You can also use a wireless mouse and keyboard. The LG MSRP is $1299. 1 year warranty from LG.

I have personal experience with this TV (and many other plasma sets) and would rate it highly. It is not in the Panasonic ZR class but is a small fraction of their price. Pretty efficient for a 60" plasma rated at $34 a year in electrical costs. It is VESA wall mount compatible. The standard included base is large and quite stable. 3 HDMI and additional inputs. It weighs 86 lbs and the box is really large. It will not fit in a car!

I've been waiting for these to drop in price. Now that plasma is EOL, I was hoping to pick one up for a good deal. I am really waiting until after Christmas though.

See if Best Buy will price match...their price-match policy extends until the end of January. If price drops any time between now and then at BB or MC (or anywhere else that BB price matches to), they'll credit the difference. Did that last year with my Panny 55VT50 and got several hundred dollars back after initially PM'ing to Abe's of Maine, and then twice to BB's own post-holiday sale prices.

I use an HTPC, so that doesn't bother me. And if LG is interested in how much pr0ns I watch, go ahead. Be ready to be disgusted!

Plasma is dead as far as newer models. Panasonic (who were leading plasma research) have stopped and all the plasma sets are basically EOL.

Plasmas are superior to LED TVs in pretty much every way that matters but energy consumption, and as a product of that heat production.

All my TV's are plasma. They are far superior to LED IMO. Maybe if you like that soap opera effect or insanely bright/vivid look. Light cannot create black and this is the biggest issue when I watch TV.

Sigh...no such thing as LED TV's, the backlight is not the technology you watch.

Also I have an older CFL LCD that has a better PQ then most newer LCD. Don't be a fool and let LED hype blind you. It's a backlight that uses less electricity and could if done right provide better color reproduction. Sadly most are cheaply made so the color isn't much better if at all.

Also Samsung just released some lighter weight plasma TV's, a good 60" Plasma is just so good for blu-ray movies and there is no blur too worry about.

Actually, it is a 5300- at least at my local MC. I'm trying to justify buying this since my 47in Westinghouse is now at least 5-6 years old. But it still has excellent PQ. I watch so little TV that it makes it hard to pull the trigger but my main peeve with the Westinghouse is how unwatchable dark scenes are in movies. Very tempting...

This is so insanely wrong that I wonder if you just banged on the keyboard until words appeared and hit "submit." The best PQ EVER in a television set (as opposed to a projector), still to this day, is in plasma sets (Pioneer's now defunct Kuro line, with Panasonic's last few model years coming incredibly close). As for economical, plasma (even before it was clearly EOL) was less expensive than comparably sized LED. In any event, this is a very good price on a good sized plasma screen, EOL or not.

I can't speak for this particular screen, but in my experience with 6 to 7 different plasmas, including my current 2012 Panasonic 55VT50, they're fantastic for gaming due to fast refresh rates and incredibly deep blacks. Given the price of this one, I wouldn't be surprised if it's not a show stopper, but it should still hold up well for gaming. Keep in mind, however, that you'll want a somewhat dark room for plasma vs. LCD or LED. If your room is very bright, I'd skip this deal.

Fry's also have put this set on for $599 and $699 and usually have it in stock. Some MC's may have the 5300 but the 5700 is a later an superior set, IMHO.

If you think that LCD's illuminated by fluorescent tubes or LED's or campfires produce better picture quality - buy one. You might also want to consider and eye exam.

As far as no 4k plasma sets......Panasonic offered them since 2007 in 85" and 103" and in 2008 the 150" all featuring a resolution of ...... 4096 x 2160.

We have a 103" at the hospital where I work. It has been service for over 6 years without a single failure of any kind. Many stadiums feature Panasonic 150's (later 152's). The price...if you have to ask..

LCD's are actually quite late to the 4K market.

If you ever had a chance to see the Panasonic demonstration 4K tape on one of their larger plasmas you wouldn't forget it. At one time, Panasonic had a 103" Plasma in an 18 wheeler pulled trailer that toured the country. They also had a couple of 150" displays set up in Las Vegas and NY for a time.

If you used HDMI, I can only assume you will get the native resolution unless your PC doesn't support 1080p somehow. I've never had an issue hooking my HTPC up to any TV via HDMI and not getting 1080p resolution native.

You will get the max resolution of what the screen is capable of or the max resolution of what you video card is capable- whichever is lower. If it's a native 1080p screen, that is what you would see. If it is a 4K TV, you will need a video card capable of 3840x2160 and over HDMI, the max refresh rate at that res is 30Hz.

We use 4K TV's as displays for 2560x1440 surveillance cameras and it is impressive...
