That's frankly nonsense. Looks play a large role in any buying decision - whether it be cars, watches, or computers. Now how much value each person places on it is up to them, but for something you carry around practically 24/7, I certainly understand wanting to have something that looks and feels good.

Else why not have computers still only come in beige boxes.

who the fk cares what it looks like its a fing phone, and LG is at least trying new things unlike everyone else in the industry

I care. LG is giving me nothing that I want!!! I couldn't care less for a removable battery once the standard battery life is good and by the time battery needs to be replaced I would be looking for another phone anyway.
All these shitty accessories and ad ons would be obsolete by next when when LG's future phone drops this add on gimmick or changes it somehow.

Buy your ugly phone. I am not stopping you just like you cant stop me from calling it what it is, an ugly gimmick

I appreciate that LG is trying to bring replaceable batteries back. It's good to see that people will have this option. However, the actual battery capacity went down compared to the G4, which is a big no no. They literally did the opposite of Samsung in this regard, and it was not the right move.

As for the accessories, I just don't see it panning out. The overwhelming majority of people do not want to carry around extra stuff. If they did, you'd see everyone walking around with a dedicated camera. So what makes LG think that people are going to want to carry around extra accessories?

Exactly. Overly round and mismatched colors? Who the hell thought that was a good idea? It looks like a phone from 5 years ago.

It's not just a phone, it's a hand held computer that for many people is their primary and only computing device. And it costs half a grand. How it looks matters. If the price was ~$100 maybe I wouldn't care as much, but this is supposed to be a flagship phone, and yet it looks like a value phone.

I'm on the side that would pick a larger, non-replaceable battery than a smaller one that can be swapped. I don't want to carry spare batteries with me, nor do I want to carry accessories around either. This is going to flop big time.

If it costs half a grand, all the more reason to not have its lifespan limited by lifespan of the battery. It's not about carrying batteries with you, it's about being able to replace it a couple years down the road.

I get that, but personally I never keep devices that long. I like to sell them while they still have a good amount of value and then use the funds to upgrade.

Not only that, the people who are touting looks don't matter and will slap on a big ugly case will have a hell of a time constantly removing them to attach the add-ons. Soon, they'll get tired of removing cases to put on the add-on, or buy form fitting add-on cases, and will ultimately stuck with a fugly phone with your run-of-the-mill spec for 2016. There are no winners in this battle, only the losers -- the company who drives gimmicky addons in the name of "development" while regressing in aspects that matters (looks and battery size) and the clueless consumer who will eat this up initially only to find out that they've been played.

I want to see your stuff.
I believe Anubis has a Kyocera Echo...the one with the dual screen. I heard the "function" in this not only trumps the "form" but beat it into a bloody pulp. The phone was also quite popular, i heard. :sneaky::sneaky:

If one of those "screens" was a hardware keyboard it would be functional. That's just stupid.

Saying aesthetics doesn't matter is pretty damm ignorant.
Why do watches come in different sizes shapes and colors. All it does is tell time. Same thing with cars, houses, laptops, pretty much everything you can think off.
I want my phone that I'm going to have on me 24/7 to look a certain way. That's not hard to understand.

I've never kept a phone long enough to notice decreased battery life. Would take a larger one that lasts longer even if its not removable 100% of the time. I also don't buy phones brand new at $800 so I don't care about replacing my $200-300 device every two years.

People care about what watches look like because they are fashion elements way more than they tell time anymore. Its jewelry. Caring about your phone the same way is pretty nerdy imo.

and with everything in life, there are those who are in the minority with differing viewpoint, and wouldn't you know it, often time they're wrong. Ignorant and wrong with their own assessment.

Let for a moment assume that aesthetics don't matter in a phone, should every company do away with their design team? Just how exactly are you going to differentiate yourself from the next guy if everyone is getting the same parts from the same supplier, what's setting you apart from them other than some gimmicky toys? You guys are simply talking out of your asses like it's trendy to like nice things. Intrinsically, we all like how things look, feel and presented in an elegant way, be it food, entertainment, jewellery, electronics, cars, etc...You might not like everything, but the things you do like probably involve some level of design or creativity in it.

I almost really want one...

I like my G4 a lot... only issue is that the DPI LG uses on their phones is insane. Everything is HUGE. The layout of websites is so blown up I have to scroll every 15 seconds. I seriously hope the G5 has lower DPI so that more is displayed on screen at once. But judging from the interface pictures, I don't think that's the case.

Using the VMdensity command through ADB to adjust the DPI makes Android Pay think the phone is rooted (or something) so you can't use it for payments. Additionally, parts of LG's interface doesn't scale dynamically, also limiting our manual DPI scaling options.
