LG l226wtq bf ghosting issue

I just want to add my two cents worth:

i bought the LG l226wtq bf one week ago. the colors are brilliant. the images are sharp. dvd video is very good. minimal gradient test banding. very good gamma. over all probably the best 22 incher out there.

i performed the ghost test using paint as described in an earlier post. i also performed this same test on several other competing 22" monitors at Fry's Electronics. All of them ghost a little.

honestly, some of you have made a mountain out of a mole hill. if i didn't have money to by a 24" monitor i'd keep the LG l226wtq bf. It's still the best.

but i returned mine: no questions asked. i told Fry's that there was nothing wrong with it.

then i went and bought the LG 24" HD model and it is SMOKIN' HOT!!!

It is 97%+ nearly perfect in every respect. all i could find is a barely perceptible banding in the black and white gradient test. i mean barely visible.

I just don't believe you'll find a better lcd monitor.

Note that the DVI is not meant to be hooked up to the computer. the connection instructions only show the DVI connecting to a dvd player or some other external input device.

The LG Flatron L245WP-BN 24" LCD Monitor is absolutely killer.

I was under the impression there is only an HDMI connector on this monitor (no DVI), and you have to use the supplied DVI-to-HDMI cable to connect it to the videocard output on the computer.

The L245WP-BN is the model number of one you bought right? Where did you get it?

Sorry.

I should have said the "DVI end" of the cable that has one end HDMI and the other end DVI. And yes, there is no DVI port on the lcd monitor.

And, yes. I do have the L245WP-BN.

My best guess is that LG has decided to reduce costs and considers DVI to be a legacy input interface so they eliminated it. Couldn't do this with the all pervasive analog d-sub interface, though.

Then they opted for the latest and greatest, HDMI, which will probably even replace analog.

Even new motherboards are coming out now with integrated HDMI. I would venture a guess that if you were to connect one of these new motherboard's to the LG 24" HDMI to HDMI that it would work perfectly fine.

Someone tell us what they find out firsthand.

As far as the slight black and white gradient test banding: I plan to get a Nvidia 8800GTS 640MB card and I'm thinking this might clear this hardly noticeable banding up. I'll let you know.

Also, in the top right hand corner of the L245WP-BN there is a small sticker that says "HD Ready." I have a set top box that receives over the air broadcast digital HD with component out so I'll be hooking this up in a day or two. Very anxious. I'll let you know how it looks.

I just got my LG 226WTQ yesterday. Incredible colors, no ghosting, no dead pixels, excellent build quality (although i miss height adjustment a bit). Came with the DVI cable. It was manufactured in may 07, i guess the ghosting issue is not present in the recently made displays. Highly recommended

Where are you from? I was under the impression that only the European version came with the DVI cable?

I know UK posters who have the WTQ report no ghosting issues.

Well I just bought a L226WTQ from New Zealand.
It came with a VGA + DVI cable - the colour is awesome and just trying to work out
if it actually ghosts in games (even though I dont game often any more).

Lovely product.

i bought this monitor and was really unimpressed. i suppose i maybe just got a bad panel, but it had really bad backlight bleed, and the colors just weren't up to par. so i returned it an bought the hp w2207 and was just blown away by the difference.

going by the OP and the rest of the responses i must have just gotten unlucky and recieved a bad panel at future shop.

No ghosting either on my L226WTQ(BF). I believe it was June 07 when they released the v1.14 firmware for this model that was to fix the ghosting.

I purchased the LG L226WTQ-BF today at Frys. I'm replacing a Gateway that I liked a lot but had very sensitive soft-touch buttons for power and OSD settings that got to be an irritation whenever the cat brushed against the power button and shut down the monitor). I find that all the monitors I've looked at have a trade-off. I think overall the LG is about the best of the bunch overall in the price range. Colors are nice, the menu and power buttons are on the bottom of the frame and out of the way, great color and response time. The ony time I've noticed the reported ghosting is when Windows VISTA is booting up, at the point where the desktop is about to come up. Otherwise, I haven't seen any signs of it. I was able to locate the latest LG Forte Manager software online at the LG website as well as drivers (my only gripe is that LG doesn't post what version the drivers are so I don't know if they're newer than the ones on the included CD or not). Overall, for $329.00 I'm pleased with this monitor so far.

Here is the solution:

1. Activate Service menu
- Power off your monitor with POWER button
- Hold MENU button and keep it pressed while pressing POWER button

2. Enter to Service menu
- Press MENU button to enter to Service menu

3. Change panel type
- Press SET button until PANEL text is yellow and press (-) two times to change it to LPL22W 4L
- Press MENU button to close the Service menu
- Press POWER button to power off your monitor and remove power cable for a minute and plug it in again

4. Finish
Now you can press POWER to power on your monitor and see if it helped. Should be no more halo/ghosting.

My monitor is European LG L226WTQ-SF. It had really terrible bright yellow ghosting/halo effects! No more! =)

i have only two choices in service menu:
PANEL > LPL 22W 4.L
and
PANEL > LPL 22W 4.G.L

both options are bad - ghosting is not remove. I have L226WTQ-SF manufactured in march 2007. May i remove ghosting problem?

You need to send your L226WTQ for warranty service, the latest firmware is 1.80 and should fix ghosting problems as long as proper panel is selected in the service menu.
