man am I the only one that thinks ICS/JB's on-screen buttons (replacement for hardware buttons) look stupid? phone on the right at the bottom-- looks way busy, the 3 large buttons clash with the 5 smaller launcher buttons.

not to mention that those three buttons at the bottom are going to be burned into your cheap samsung screen 6 months from now

Yep, no burn in on mine either, it's been about 6 months now. This phone is near a year old now. I'm sure there would have been complaints about burn in by now.

if burn in really was an issue, then wouldn't the notification bar produce the same result? Ive had my captivate for 2+ years now, no burn in....

Yes it would have but obviously it's not an issue at all or else we would hear about it.

9 months in on mine & no such issue. Never heard of this, EVER.

I can't see how OLED or LCD screens would get screen burn. CRTs and Plasmas definitely do though.

I'm not sure how either, but in almost every sports bar around here almost every TV has the sports center side bar burned into the screen that's pretty visible during some stuff. My SGS2 has an ever so slight amount of "burn" that can be seen if the screen/backlight is on but the screen is displaying a slightly off-black color. You can tell where my lock circle always is based on the slight ring of discoloration you can see. I never see it during normal use and even though I know what I'm looking for I can't always see it.

And I say "burn" because I don't know if it's actually the same mechanism as plasma screen burn.

i have actually seen temporary burn in on my nexus 7 right when the tablet is turned on. after a few minutes it stops.

Basically, Plasma and OLED displays are susceptible to image burn-in. LCD's can experience it, but are less susceptible. If you see something that looks like burn-in in an LCD, generally when displaying a bright image and then changing to a dark one, it's just temporary.

I get slight image retention on my GNex, but it goes away after refreshing the screen.

And, oddly enough IME, it's worse when the back light is dimmer. But again, it goes away after a few seconds displaying something else.

I've seen screenshots online that showed the AMOLED ghosting the buttons but I've never had that issue on my 1 yr old S2.

Review of the AT&T Optimus shows the 8mp camera being worse than the One X/S3/iPhone ones with the same resolution. Continuing the Nexus tradition of inferior cameras, I guess...

That's ghosting, a different issue. Sadly some of the Nexus 7s do have this issue, others seem to not (or at least much less of it).

FWIW the engadget and verge reviews are less critical of the camera, the verge even claims the 8MP one is the better of the 2. I wouldn't be surprised if AC just took some bad pics, I've seen widely varying results on every smartphone camera I've used.

I dunno. The pics in this review seem a LOT better. Reviewer does mention that proper focusing is a hair-pulling experience though.

It does ok here. SGS3 wins, but HTC is even worse in sharpness than the Optimus, so maybe it's OK.

We don't have that many solid camera tests for us to really comment though. I'd like to see ISO tests on all these cameras, because you'd expect low ISO in daylight to be fine. The real challenge is low light.
