I guess you guys must know by now - current LHC WUs are causing major havok in the BOINCverse! They kill the entire BOINC client in essense....the only way to recover is to wipe out all traces of LHC in order for BOINC to function again. The LHC website has been down "due to maintenance" for over a day now, not by coincidence. This is all over BOINC-related websites in case you missed it.

If you participate in LHC and have any WUs from them - ABORT THEM IMMEDIATELY. At least Suspend LHC as a project, if not detach entirely!

Same thing happened to me. LHC took the whole BOINC client down. Nothing helped but a fresh install.

Huh....after the last batch of LHC WUs, my crunchers went right on with their other duties. Guess I got lucky!

They should have built the LHC by now anyway. Actually there are some delays, I wonder how long until they install and fix in place the magnets that you're simulating though? I believe they want to switch the beam on later in 2008, and wouldn't want to have to shut down too much to rearrange magnets while they're trying to detect the Higgs boson.

Phoenix2 is being a little dramatic.
There are workarounds to get BOINC running, without re-installing or anything too dire, if BOINC crashes.

Yes, there is a problem, and LHC@home is down for maintenance.

There are choices to be made in individual circumstances.
The BOINC message boards have lots of information, but not about LHC.

Odd...the site is still down, but I just had a couple WUs roll through with no issues.

LHC seems to have gotten the problem solved.
I still don't see their website, but BOINC users that didn't panic, are now able to function again.

Neither I nor Phoenix2 did panic, ralphk! We just wanted to give our team members a heads up that LHC might cause trouble on their PCs, that's all. :|
