Hello all,

I have a Lian Li case with the two 80mm fans in front and the 80mm fan in the rear. I want to replace those fans because they are too noisy for me. I've noticed that they are attached by some black platic thing. How do I take those off? do i need to break them off. Also when I buy new fans will standard fan screws work in place of the plastic ones? Also how would I connect the two 80mm fans in the front?

Thanks for your help

-Nick

Hi Nickma, those black things work on a similar principle to what I have pictured here: link You want to pull the inner piece out of the hollow outer piece so the outer piece can relax its grip and let go.

Heck, while I'm at it, here are two pics:

Pic with the "plunger" fully inserted
Pic with the "plunger" partly withdrawn

You can see that the plunger splays out the "rivet" but when you remove it, the rivet can relax and let go of whatever it's holding, so use a utility knife or your fingernails to pull the plunger out. If it's pretty tight, push it out from the inside.

why not just get a fan speed controller .. since quieter fans = lower rpm = lower cfm anyways.

It took me awhile to figure out those black things also. Those stock fans suck, I replaced them right away

I also recommend leaving off the inboard fan grilles that Lian-Li puts on the inboard side of their fans. They restrict airflow and increase noise due to the turbulence they generate.

Most Lian Lis have a fan adjustment switch in front (L-M-H). My PC-65 does and it sure comes in handy sometimes.

fora normal Lian li case, replacing all three fans with NMB 80mm fans makes the case silent (not considering other components)

but I did that with a lian li pc 6070 and I have almost zero airflow now , hahah, for the time being, I have the side panel off and I am getting very good temps though until I find a better solution.

Coolermaster NEON Led Rifle bearing fans friggin rock...they push 32cfm at 25db...nearly the same air volume as a panaflo but even more silent....they are damn good...im useing 7 of them in my Lian Li PC-75b right now....and the loudest fan is STILL my 120mm panaflo M1a on my radiator.

My PC65B came with four ADDA fans...don't have the model number handy. Though I never bothered hearing them before swapping them all out for Panaflo L1As, I did so b/c more than one person told me they were noisy.

Based on my personal experience with other ADDA fans, I believed this to be true. Plus, IMO you really cannot go wrong swapping any fan (except NMB/Pabst fans) for L1As. They are "the standard" for a reason. We'll find out soon as I'll be building a system in the LianLi.

The reason I didn't go w/a fan controller, though it would look cool, is b/c of the wiring. Too many more wires to have to deal with.
