Lian Li V1000 / V1200 question

I'm planning on picking up a Lian Li V1000 or a V1200 soon. Does anyone own one that uses it with a Thermalright Ultra 120 Xtreme?

My question is: Does the CPU fan shroud still fit with this heatsink?

yes it does fit but only horizontally, which is not quite good (not much air flow).

I had a V1200 and was only able to mount the Ultra 120 Extreme by removing the fan shroud. Maybe I could have fit it in somehow, but I just didn't see the point. Also, with a fan on it I had to mount it blowing down due to the inverted positioning of the mainboard (CPU at bottom) and interference with the metal separating the PS/HD area. I think the ideal positioning is at the upper area blowing into a rear exhaust fan. Same trouble with a Zerotherm Nirvana.

As much as I loved the case, I switched to an PC-A70B for better cooling/airflow for my overclocked Q6600.

it will probably only fit if u mount it horizontally in the up-down orientation, the best u can do mounting it in the vertical, front-rear orientation is the Tuniq Tower and that depends on ur motherboard. it works with my DS3p

It depends on the location of CPU socket, obviously. Some boards will have more clearance and others will not. I was able to mount BadAxe 2 in V1000 with Scythe Infinity with about half inch clearance to bottom of the case.

I haven't been to fond of my lili v1000 since I purchased it. Perhaps you'll like yours better.

A Tuniq does not work with the case in standard orientation for a 680i and I am pretty sure for the 780i as well (not positive yet as I simply put the stock heat sink on the CPU in the 780i board. The Tuniq's base hits some components on the board in the up-down orientation on the Evga 780i board which prevented me from using it immediately. I have since dremel'ed away what I believe is all the offending part of the Tuniq to get the clearance I need, but I have yet to try it since I am about to pick up a Q9450 anyway, and don't feel like doing the install yet again in a few short weeks when the CPU is available/arrives.

Also I do not have the V1000/V1200, but a PC-201B which is the same thing just without the perforated front and a door as well.

it fits with my DS3P motherboard and V1000B
Proof

sucks for 680i & 780i users lol oh well.
a zalman 9700 doesn't fit in the front-rear orientation with a 680i either. but thats OT.
