Registered Libertarian since 1996. Before that, I was registered Republican but I refuse to associate myself with the Religious Wrong.

I'm not a true 100% Libertarian because I don't think their entire political platform is feasible. I'm somewhat partial to the platform of the Natural Law party, but it's not perfect either.

<< No they aren't. Both libertarians and greens are socially liberal. >>

The Greens may be socially liberal, but the Libertarian Party is far from it.

Huh? The Libertarian Party is probably the most socially liberal party in the field. Libertarians believe in very few restrictions on human behavior.

I'm not a Libertarian but I did vote that way in the last two Presidential elections... lesser of seven evils I suppose.

I was registered a Libertarian for awhile, but got annoyed by frequent phone calls from the party. So I re-registered as an Independent.

I'm a moderate libertarian. I believe we should privatize much of government, but not all. Example: I like the national highway system being federally funded and maintained, and believe it is not only for private transportation but for military use as well (It's original purpose, actually).

BTW, the Green party may come off as "socially liberal" but they are authoritarian to the core with nanny state policy. They will go to great lengths to save you from yourself... and trust me, your freedoms will be the price to pay for this. If you don't think personal, social freedoms will be affected by this, you had better think again.

The Libertarian party is the most socially liberal party there is. While some Libertarians may not agree with what you do morally, they have no policy in place to advocate passing laws against what you do if it harms no one else directly. Doing so would directly violate their central ideology.

The Libertarian party has no official stance on abortion.

Do you know the difference between "socially liberal" and "fiscally liberal?"

Socially liberal means "do what you please, so long as you harm no one else." Fiscally liberal means, "please, take all my money in taxes and redistribute it through government programs."

The libertarian party is socially liberal and fiscally conservative; Do what you want, harm no one else, and don't expect anything from the government if you screw yourself up.

You expressed my views concisely and well.

I've voted Libertarian in the last 4 presidential elections, because I couldn't vote either Rep or Dem. We need to go toward Libertarianism, but not all the way.
