Making light of a serious situation? People are being killed.

Wait, really? I'm glad somebody finally posted something about this... I had no idea what was going on. Also, the amount of information I got from this thread makes me feel like I was there.

At least one high UN official has called on other nations to intervene to contain Kaddifi's abuse.

My guess, Kaddifi is crusin for a brusin from one entity or another in the very near future. And may simply see everyone of his palaces bombed to rubble to kinda give him a hint.

Mild sarcasm detected.

OK, maybe not mild. LOL!

Lemon Law has posted in another thread that Scott Walker is the 'Kaddafi' of Governors. So either Scott Walker is murdering Wisconsin citizens, or Kaddafi is simply proposing Libyian government workers give up their collective bargaining rights. Doesn't sound too serious to me.

Obama is dropping the ball, again. War power act gives him right to shoot down planes and take Kadafi out. I would not even a question. Some people just need a killing nd this is trivial for a CBG.

OP, take the hint. Next time provide some actual information, preferably with a link.

I was reading Stratfor and we don't even have a CBG in the med right now. Fail.

So not only are the diplomats blathering while Libyans are being killed we can't do anything about it for days.

What? Another dictator that isn't supported by the US actually killing his own people? That's outrageous! It's one thing if someone the US supports like Saddam Hussein uses mustard gas on his own people, but this is intolerable!

They're being removed now. We should have and support a strong UN military response.

Just as long as not one US service personell or equipment is used, that's fine. Far too many members of the UN, and their citizens, like to shoot their mouths off about the US being The World Police. That's fine.

Our official response should be: "The World doesn't want the US to be the World Police, and nothing we do to help improve Muslim states is ever not thrown back in our faces - after we shed our own blood and treasure doing so. The US will be abstaining from involvement, any involvement, unless requested by the eventual newly elected governments. We hope these issues can be solved peaceably and without bloodshed. Thanks."

I should not reply to you as usual, but your response is idiotic - typical right-wing nutty.

It's like 'The Police should tell peple who protest their beating people wrongly, that they will no longer do any police work at those people's homes if crimes happen.

You don't like the police, fine.'

The US should use its military for good purposes - like enforcing good UN measures.

Or we can go back to our early 20th century isolationist ways and stop policing the world.

This is Europe's problem, not ours.

There are links in the NYT that strong UN sanctions are coming against Libya. I do not believe the USA should do it unilaterally, but I do expect that by next week, the international community will be ready to militarily intervene in Libya against Kaddafi. Only the Arab League somewhat resists the precedent, but Nato, and most of the rest of the world sees the immediate need. With the international criminal courts ready to press war crimes against Kaddafi as soon as they can get a hold of his sad and sorry ass.

The UN has already tossed Libya off of any UN commissions, and when the Libyan UN personnel endorsed the UN position, they got a standing ovation from the UN.

Kaddafi may be right, he may fight with the last drop of his own blood, but right now it looks like a dead Kaddifi is the only best alternative. And if Kaddafi does not stop his shit soon, the UN may militarily intervene this weekend, and grant Kaddafi's death wish. And if Kaddafi's hired thugs wish to support Kaddafi, they can join him in that glorious death. Any number of nearby powers can immediately provide the planes to see that Kaddafi wish is granted.

Lets see, there is about 6 quarts of blood in a human body, and human tears are about 17 per milli liter, without doing the math, I doubt anyone on earth would shed a single tear over Kaddafi's death. As for his three son's, they might be best advised to take their diminished money and run.

Gadhafi is in power because of Europe. Their solution to the problem would be to give Gadhafi more weapons, just like how the French foreign minister arranged to have a planeload of weapons to be sent to Tunisia. Their solutions always create global catastrophe that affects us.

Yeah its only Europe. Its not like any other world power provides state of the art weapons to similar dictatorships, say Egypt, Bahrein, Saudi Arabia,.. or Iran before its revolution, Iraq before it started selling oil in Euro's.

Anyway, Id be reluctant to embrace military intervention. The idea that military might is there to be used is a very dangerous one, as it rarely achieves its objectives and tends to backfire big time.
