wow, don't know what to say... 30 is way to young for that to happen.

I sincerely wish for the best for you two.

Just wanted to say that your wife is very lucky, and while it's never good news, of the possible news this isn't that bad. Keep your feelings in perspective, it could be much, much worse.

Mom=breast cancer survivor
Dad=esophageal cancer victim
Brother=testicular cancer victim
Paternal Grandfather=lung cancer victim
Maternal Grandfather=lung cancer victim
Aunt=lung cancer victim

30 years old is way too young for this kind of stuff.. You both will be in my prayers tonight.

Here's to hoping for many more decades of wedded bliss!

Thank you for all the kind words. The Drs and nurses had been very caring and positive so that made us feel a lot better too. Now MRI is done, surgery is scheduled at the end of next week, we are going to seek a second opinion before the surgery just to be sure (and having a hope that it might be a mistake). We'll be trying to make a appointment at Standford asap. anyone knows if we need to do anything other than bring the medical record for a second opinion?

I know this is obvious, but be as supportive as possible during this trying time. If she lashes out, don't lash back, just be a rock for her.

i wish her the best.

Good Luck!

My aunt was diagnosed with cancer in Nov.

It was early enough to get it removed; she got it removed in late January. That took care of it. She has to go in more than often now to make sure more does not show up but breast cancer when caught early is very survivable.

My mother had breast cancer about 8 years ago. She got chemo, was on medicine for 5 years and has made a full recovery. No signs of it coming back in the past several years. Your wife will pull through.

On a side note, my mom had short term disability and I hope you guys have something similar, it really helped when my mother couldn't work and we still had bills to pay.

I wish the best to the both of you

Bring with you, medical paperwork, X-ray films (mammograms, CXR etc), also ask for either films or CD of the MRI/CT images. This should all be released to you in a timely manner at minimal cost in accordance with HIPAA (cost being like few dollars for copies and stuff). Check with admins at both your current medical facility and proposed 2nd one.

Did they stage her cancer? Told you something like Stage #, TNM staging? T#N#O#.

I don't know any details with you but your wife may want to bring up a plastic surgery consult. Sometimes plastic surgeons are called in to finish/close a surgical wound to provide (theoretically) extra care to decrease scarring or post surgical malformations.

Stay strong mooncancook, your wife needs it. You'll find that you're able to cope with a lot more than you initially thought. Things will get tough, but keep positive and always look at tomorrow as a better day.

It sounds "fluffy" but my wife and I have gone through a lot in the last 2 years and doing that has helped.

Not yet, but scheduling it right now at Stanford MC. Waiting for them to call back to set up an appointment after faxing the report.
