Life is not fair.

I'm visiting mom now and she just told me this news. Three years ago, my mom's friend's pastor passed away leaving a widow and 3 kids. He died of stomach cancer. There were barely managing. Today the kids are in middle school, jr high and HS- still very young.

Last week, they found a brain tumor in the kids' mom. Terrible. They immediately took her to a 4-hour surgery to remove it. It ended up taking 18 hours. The kids were absolutely devastated, I cannot even imagine.

Last night doctors said the surgery went well. The kids, church community and everyone was very relieved. Then this morning, she started to have complication due to the pooling of fluid in her brain that caused her to go into coma.

By the time my mom got back from work today, she received the news she passed away.

Just like that.

The 3 kids have no relatives here except an helpless grandfather.

This just breaks my heart... this is so sad. Those kids just lost their father 3 years ago, and now without mom. Jesus fucking christ, they're completely alone. This just pisses me off. I don't even know at what/whom/whatever.

Just breaks my heart. Please don't turn it into a religion thread, I'm an agnostic atheist myself. I can't imagine the 11 yr old's world crashing down on her.. dad gone, now mom gone.

Im usually a pretty cold-hearted person in that i dont feel sad when i hear a sad story, but this is reallly sad. I couldn't even imagine. My condolences to the kids.

Wow, that just plain sucks. I can't imagine losing my parents ever, let alone during childhood.

Same here. Life is so tragic that the best way I cope with it is to essentially be heartless toward the countless tragedies.

Yet, that story is very sad. Poor kids, with no family to look to, that's just rough. Kids that young don't deserve that.

Wow that's very sad. I can't imagine being a little kid and going through that reality. As a kid it's the last thing you think of, a parent or close one dying. It's one of those things "It's never going to happen" but it does. Scary how fast someone can go.
