Life sucks - wife's father died this morning - 3 days before she gives birth

Got a call from my hysterical wife this morning. Her dad, who was over our house last night and in perfect health, was found by her brother this morning. Died sitting in his chair this morning.

My wife is giving birth to his 2nd grandchild this Friday. Over the house right now doing my best to comfort the family. This is really awful.

damn that is horrible news! How did he go from perfect health to death? Brain aneurysm? My grandpa passed in a similar fashion and it totally sucks when such a life changing event comes so unexpectedly.

Trust me, it sucks MORE when you watch someone you love die and it's expected.

I am so sorry for your wife and family, Jeeebus - my father died unexpectedly also. Please help her hold onto the knowledge that he was probably overjoyed about the new grandchild and passed away without pain and suffering, and that while it hurts endlessly to lose your parents they never really leave you because every day there's some part of them that you see in your children.

He was 63. They don't know what happened. Guess is heart attack. Just got out of the room with him, my wife, and her mom. Never actually been near a dead body before. This is all so surreal.

sorry to hear about that man. my father died totally unexpectedly about 1.5 years ago and was also in good health at age 57. was really hard and i pretty much still think about it daily.

best thing to do is be with family in this tough time and let it all out. it helps w/the pain.
