if you really feel that way, you need to make a commitment to yourself to make things better.
Remember you have free will and you choose what you do.
At least you can admit something is not right, but now is the time to try and change something if you really want to.

I have dealt with bouts of depression several times. I have found that when i just start to write... anything and everything that comes to mind, no matter if it coherent or not, i keep writing. For some reason this helps me. Really sound off. say exactly what you are thinking.
See if this helps. I hope it does.
Life is worth living, and there are no such thing as "bad" or "good" really... its just all an experience.

Try accumulating sleep debt until you're too tired to sleep. I've been averaging about 4 hours of sleep a night since April. I'm averaging something like 2,000mg of caffeine each day. A quintuple-shot espresso doesn't have any noticeable effect on me anymore.

Life can always get worse. It's still worth it though.

That's me. Too tired to sleep. I go night after night without sleeping. You stop having feelings. Your brain is too fried to respond to sleeping pills. *sigh*

excelent post

Right now I'm feeling sorttof like the op, not quite, i'm almost through a bottle of white wine

And my advice to the op, regardless how bad you might think you have it right now I know you will feel better than you do right now, and you have felt worse in the past. This is a phse most people go to, you get what you want but not what you need. Figuring out what you need is the biggest problem everyone goes through.

Fsck i love whitewine

"'The best thing for being sad,' replied Merlyn, beginning to puff and blow, 'is to learn something. That is the only thing that never fails. You may grow old and trembling in your anatomies, you may lie awake at night listening to the disorder of your veins, you may miss your only love, you may see the world about you devastated by evil lunatics, or know your honour trampled in the sewers of baser minds. There is only one thing for it then - to learn. Learn why the world wags and what wags it. That is the only thing which the mind can never exhaust, never alienate, never be tortured by, never fear or distrust, and never dream of regretting.'" - T.H. White

Guess I should google that since you managed to put it in quotes but somehow didn't actually give credit.

Old thread.
My only friend at the place i work got promoted to a different district. which, yay, im happy for him. but instead of being able to stay 2 weeks, like most people (2 week quitting notice), the EO of my district and the EO of the other one decided to transfer him with only 3 days notice.
I didnt have time to get caught up on anything he was going to be working on, so now i have to do all his work without any training or knowledge he was supposed to pass on.
it was a very heavily emotional day as nearly the entire building basically cried because he is leaving. In addition, i am left behind wht a boss I can't stand, and a worthless intern who does nothing.

In addition, wifes unemployment is running out in a month, and she has yet to be able to find a job which will pay our bills. There is just no market for people with biology degrees.

A degree is just icing, the cake that gets you hired is your lab experience and LATG certification. If you're that close to the fiscal edge, she needs to sign on with a temp agency if she hasn't already. A job that doesn't pay the bills is better than no job. Try to take out a low interest loan for living expenses NOW before your debt goes up, after a few months of expenses greater than income it will be much harder. It will get better after she finds a good job, though it always takes about a year to recover from extended unemployment. Your job will be better once your wife has a good job. It's always stressful to know that you don't have the option of leaving your work if it sux. Keep your resume up to date and if your boss is mean, apply elsewhere while you're still working.
