It can't match SwiftKey's text prediction.

I don't like swiping cause I can't see the keys. I don't like the predictive bar cause it takes up screen space. I like to button smash uninterrupted and have it fix it for me. I hate that stupid suggestion word bar because I have to stop and its distracting. Lastly I hate the theme cause the keys are too skinny with no space in between at all. Granted you could change the theme, but I'm perfectly happy with the iOS keyboard.

I could multitouch type fast on iOS on day 1, I'm not going to wait around for a keyboard to catch up or relearn when its been improved.

If your phone has a reasonable screen size the area the prediction bar takes up is inconsequential.

You do realize half of your gripes are psychological, right? No spaces on Swiftkey, but the targets are much larger than on an iphone with its small screen. If you like to button mash, spend 2 minutes typing your 20 most common 'words' into the user dictionary of Swiftkey. Plus swiping is awesome for long words. It's cool that with Swiftkey you can do both (swipe and type) in the same sentence...

I really have no idea what this keyboard talk is about. Aren't they simply squares/rectangles on bottom half of the screen? Forget swiping on Android, but assuming similar size screens and similarly designed keyboards (say, find one that looks like iOS keyboard from Play store), what difference is there? It's a puzzling debate to me.

Nothing you say is going to convince him. If you think so, you haven't been here long enough and don't know his iOS preferences.

Eh, people like what they like.

I mean, when it boils down to it, basically ever preference someone has over something else is psychological, amirite?

I'm very particular about details and as you can see in the img above, its too cramped. It's like the devs have a vision disability. I could get a keyboard that "looks" like iOS, but the hit target is cramped or isn't accurate.

It's pretty much 100% BS.

Some (possibly even most) people are adaptable and able to see the strengths of any given tool and use it to get a job done. So then it just comes down to preferences, not an ignorant belief in some one thing being superior to all others.

Others get hung on one thing and spend their lives knocking their heads against a brick wall wanting everything else in the world to be just like that one thing.

iOS keyboard is stupid proof, just like the entire Apple experience itself.

For most techie and power users, there is at least one Android keyboard that works best. For most grandma and teenage girls, iOS is a no brainer.

I'm a web dev that uses an iPhone. I've built my own computers and NAS boxes. I'm not a grandma nor a teenage girl. Keep insulting the users if it makes you happy about your device choice.

It's also the best keyboard, it's the only touch screen keyboard I've never had a desire to replace. I might cry if Apple ever replaces it.

It's not "the" best. It's the best for "you".

As far as keyboards are concerned, I type more accurately on iOS than I did in two years using SwiftKey and I am not sure why. The screen on the Android was 4.3 inches but I have come to conclude that possibly the iPhone screen was more sensitive (registers more touch points) than the Android device I was using or maybe iOS actually does have better auto correct as has been claimed before.

I have swift key for tablet as well and I know on that version you can set the height of the buttons to small, med or large. I use small. Med is default but they take up too much space and look awkward.

Well - I've had the iPhone 5 for about 6 hours now.

I'm surprised I actually like the device overall.

The case they gave me sucks - I will replace this.

Things I Don't Like so far:

1) iTunes - Simply not a fan, at all. The whole process for adding music just sucks.

2) Screen Size is going to take some time getting used to it.

3) I hate that I can't change the the Dock at all. Let me choose what I want to put there. Give me the option to scroll the dock to left or right so you can have more short cuts there

4) #3 brings me to here, I wish I could hide/delete all the useless Apps (IE Stocks) but since there is really no launcher, your forced to have all your apps on your home screens.

Edit #5) Gmail - The Gmail app sucks compared to the app on Android.

Things I do Like:

1) It's fast and smooth - It's outpowered by modern Android phones, but its very well optimized - All apps I've used so far run just as well, and in some cases, better, than on higher powered Android Devices

2) Notifications and Default Sounds are top notch - I'm really digging the Notifications system Apple has.

3) Keyboard - This surprises me, but I like the Keyboard and don't see what others are complaining about. It's accurate and it's predictions/corrections seems to work well.

4) iPod - I still enjoy how the default music app works out of the box.

Will have more I'm sure as I use it.

I disagree, but then again I so rarely use iTunes I guess it's hard for me to tell. I know I just imported all my music in to iTunes and then subscribed to iTunes Match and had it match it all. Then I just stream it directly via the music app.

If you want something simple with more of a "drag and drop" as opposed to a "library", then just try CopyTrans.

You can put whichever icons you want down in the dock. You should be able to tap and hold them and move them just like any other icons. You can even put a folder down there if you really wanted to.

It would be nice to hide apps, and iOS 7 helps a lot since folders aren't limited to 20 icons and you can have multiple pages. I've always just kind of had the Apple apps on the first page and anything after that was mine. I always try to keep my home screens to 3 max. If I start going over 3 I have to start looking at things and be like 'Do I really need that?' and end up uninstalling stuff.

Yeah, the Gmail app isn't great, but I hate the Gmail app on Android too. Every new version of the Gmail app on either platform just irks me further.

The Notification System is one area a lot of people dismiss. It's always pushed off as a clone of the Android notification drawer, but it's so much more and so much more flexible than the one on Android.

The problem I have with Android's Notification Shade is that Google doesn't seem to really know what they want to do with it. Is it for notifications? Is it an extension of applications? Is it a quick launcher?

What I love most is the ability to disable all the applications from even showing up in the NC. Even though I turn that off, I have the ability to still get the notifications. I can get them when I'm using the phone so I don't miss them. But what I like best is being able to see them on the lock screen. They can collect on the lock screen so that when I come back to my phone, I can pick it up, turn it on and see everything I missed and decide to act on it or not. If I want to act on it, I can slide the notification over to jump right to the app. Or, if none of those notifications are important to me and dismissable, i can simply unlock the device and forget about them. I don't have to drop the shade down and clear them out.

Uh that's what's great about it, it is all of the above.

Yeah, I know some people love it. I hate it. I hate the whole idea of a 'Notification Center/Shade' in general. To me, especially on Android, it just seems to be a catch all. Just a 'We don't really know what to do with this, so we're going to throw it in the shade.'

I was disappointed when Apple brought it over, especially having used the MobileNotifier jailbreak hack and having hated it. At least with iOS, I can just about mostly get rid of it without turning the notifications off entirely, which is about the only thing you can do on Android.

City's wifi and employer's wireless account? Heck I would pay for something else just to do my nefarious internetting.

I really like how I can disable the lock screen entirely with my S4. iPhone should allow for this in the future.

I left my iPhone 5 thinking I'd go back if a larger model arrives in 2014. Yet now I'm starting to enjoy Android more than iOS. Especially regarding hardware.

As someone who uses multiple email addresses, I use the built in email app for iOS and Android because it can check all of them at once. Last time I used the Gmail app was in Android 2..3 because the built in email app was practically unusable.

Glad the OP actually gets to try it out and *shudders* likes it.

As I said before, there are too many fanboys who have actually never tried the competition, they just know it sucks based on other fanboys who have never used said device.

I like the device overall. I feel I never was an Apple basher though, I just liked Android enough to stick with it.

If this phone came with a 4.5 inch screen, I really wouldn't have too much to complain about.

I am not a huge power user though - Email, light browsing, music, camera.

Those 4 things I use the most.
