There's probably fewer users who will setup their Android phone to use Exchange mail? Or in general if its too difficult, the masses won't set it up.

Asking to have your email setup is not the same as a general support call. We have a BYOD policy as well, we setup people's email on their new phones and they're good to go, they almost never call or email us with phone problems. Ironically the only calls we get with any sort of regularity are questions about iTunes.

Point is people are less prone to having issues and getting confused and asking for help if they are in charge of what device they use.

A friend of mine that does IT for a law firm has a BYOD policy, and his experience is the exact opposite. The people with Android sets don't really call in at all.

I think the main difference being that in his situation, he's dealing with people that chose their phone, instead of being handed one.

Wow your friend works at a company that actively supports BYOD? Sounds like a nightmare.

Yeah Iphone is still the best. Mostly because of how good iOS is. Itunes sucks. iOS7 sucks, and the small screen sucks.

Once an android manufacturer builds high quality devices, and the Android OS improves (current state of affairs) the phase shift will take place.

Apple will 'give up' and Android will take over where they left off and continue to innovate & improve. I like the screen size of the LGG2, the look of samsungs home screens, the customizing abilities of Android, and the build of the HTC one.

Why can't i just get the apple build quality on the HTC one build, with iOS durability & quality, with Samsung homescreen, Android customizing, with the 41mpx good low light ziess lumia 1020 camera, Note 2 battery, sim & SD slot, with those HTC Booming front speakers, with the S4 guestures, LG G2 Screen size & layout with the Nexus 4 beveled glass, on iOS 6.13, with no Itunes and no iOS 7, with good weight & not to much "thinness" all in one phone? Is this too much to ask. wth. Where is my perfect phone?

Our company uses MDM Management software forcing you to use iPhones.

We also have lots of in house apps designed to run only on iphones. We also have iphone apps for our actual products. We can even have apps that allow us to control things in board rooms if desired.

Its not the end of the world - I will miss the screen size more than anything. And all the Apps I've already paid for from the years of Android use.

iTunes is really the thing I hate the most about iphones.

The camera will be as good/better as My Note II, using it as an iPod at the gym will be decent. I will survive.

Well, keep in mind I noted this experiment was done during the Gingerbread days. ICS was a massive leap forward for Android in a lot of ways.

1 GB of data seems cutting close to bare minimum. What happens if you use more than 1GB? Pay out of your pocket?

You, my friend, is in the 1%. Most people just want a phone that works.

Nothing wrong with switching it up for a while, especially if it's on your employer.

If Apple made a larger iPhone I'd even give it a shot just to mix things up. I predict a 5"+ iPhone would be the best seller in Apple's history and possibly see droves of Android users who've moved on because of larger screens switch back to Apple) they're just too stubborn to back out of their 'smaller is different!' corner they've painted themselves into right now.

Meh, you could do a lot worse... Biggest nuisance on the iPhone for me is the small screen. Otherwise it's fine. The lack if widgets is annoying, but at least iOS 7 is adding quick toggles. The app ecosystem of iOS is awesome.

We are so spoiled in this day and age!

I own and use both, Android's great fun to hax0r and play with. iOS apps are vastly better. And if you use your phone for music, nothing comes close to touching the power of iTunes smart playlists capabilities. I'm huge into music and couldn't function without iTunes.

I will say Android apps are getting a lot better, but the app gap's still very large.

I'm so going to get nailed for this by my friends.

I'm a phone junkie, in particular, a Android phone junkie.

Long Story Short - Work just gave me an iphone 5 with unlimited calling and a 1GB of data on it - I'm selling my Android phones this morning.

Due to some security policies, I can only get my work email and calendar on an iphone - and I've been putting it off as long as I can.

Welcome to the world of iTunes.

That is grounds for quitting if you ask me.

Any employer that would subject its employees to the hellhole that is iTunes and IOS (not to mention keeping you tied to work 24/7) is not a company I would ever want to deal with. No matter how much they are paying.

I agree, Android apps are catching up. However, I couldn't live without iTunes and therefore I'm a happy iphone-user. Good choice you made!

I'd like to have one but I am rough on phones and have to buy them a price point where they can be a considered disposible item . ( I guess I could buy a 3GS on fleabay and use it on an ATT MVNO with an otterbox)

Ugh - I've gotten used to doing work on the fly on my Note 2 when needed - whether it be reviewing spreadsheets, presentations, docs, etc. Not my favorite thing to do but useful when I'm riding the train or out and about and people need an immediate response. Frankly I couldn't imagine trying to do work on an iPhone 5 (my wife has one so I'm pretty familiar with it).

If all you need to do is work email, then you can probably bear with it. Web surfing and video content will be a squint-fest step-down, but bearable due to the good screen.

I'm glad my current work let's us BYOB, but dislike that it's enforced through the Good for Enterprise app and I can't just sync to Exchange.

I agree. Itll eventually happen. Just like how the iPad mini eventually happened. However, for me 5" is too big. But I would still like something over 4". Now when I hold a non iPhone 5 in my hand, im like "wow, that screen is tiny."

Anyone who's so obsessed with their choice of mobile platform that they'd refuse to work at a company that requires a competing OS... will likely have trouble getting hired.

Besides, depending what syncing policies are involved, he may not be using iTunes much at all (the app is fine on the Mac, in my experience). You definitely don't need it just to activate the phone, set up email and get apps.
