Bah to any Lifer that's been here for less than 10 years. I look at join date...that's all that matters.

I agree. I lurked from almost the beginning. On a similar note, what's with all of the new members lately? Seems like someone's trying out a low-level AI chat bot here or something. Each one seems to get slightly more human...

I thought about making a thread pointing out how tens of thousands of posts enters the book level of content in terms of pages and number of words.

Assuming average novel length of 64,000 words, and only just about 10 words per post (could be higher or lower, as short responses like "bump" bring down the average for me), I've written at least 3 books worth of posts. D:

While I'm sure some of it is worthwhile, that's a lot of time added up. I want to put more of that into writing actual novels, not internet posts... and considering I am actually working on a novel at a slow clip, I find it an especially disheartening stat. I have to spend less time here.

I was at ~10 posts until this time last year. Stupid werewolf/mafia game sucked me in to posting and now I can't stop.

Funny thing is there are some folks that post to these forums who could have a collection of their posts put together into a book and have it sell reasonably well. NuclearNed comes to mind for one....

Yeah, my PPD dropped dramatically at some point...once I hit lifer I just stopped caring. I've probably averaged less than one post per day for the last few years.

Same here. Have posted here 6 times in the last year.

I think that NuclearNed has been asked to write a book after every post he makes. It's a travesty he hasn't complied.

well played. But 10k posts in a year? wow.

QFP

I hit 10k in my first ~8 months (and I really didn't post much in the first month or two after signing up). Pretty sure I was at 20k in less than a year and a half.

remember back when the site was just basically one social forum (no sub forums until P&N came along). The forum moved much, much faster back then. It was more like a chat room, than a message board.

Agreed. He must spend some time crafting those posts.

He could form a book of short stories at least just from his story threads. He should call it, "NuclearNed: Tales From the Internet", and on the cover have a picture of him sitting in an classy armchair and smoking a cigar.

Those were good times. When YAGT meant "Yet Another Girl Thread" and babe threads were allowed in OT....wasn't there someone..."conjur" maybe...that actually started a YAGT site?

I used to nef the heck out of this place when I was in college. I probably only have a thousand posts or so in the last 5 years.

Yep, if you were on the site and active for a couple hours a day, it was easy to rack up 50-100+ posts in no time at all.

Yea it was conjur.

A few months after I hit 1k I think I didn't watch it anymore. Eventually culture changed and got hassled by mods and lost the joy of posting. Never know when the next nef will be your last.

I agree- things were very quick. The Hot Deals forum here is scary now, it's so slow. i remember F5ing that allllllllllll the time.

Good memory, conjur started the now defunct and dead yagt.org and had an awesome moderator (M4H).

It's one of about a dozen AT spinoff forums, the latest is neffers.com run by a fellow AT'er.

BTW - yagt.org is available to register in case anyone is interested, pickup some $20/yr web hosting and start your own blog/forum.

Oh damn I'm only at 73,000+ posts

Posting to find out my current count as I don't remember...

*edit* Oh, 11,582. OK.

If I add up my total posts across all the forums I frequent I'm at around 33,500 total. Heh, so I still have a little more of a life than some of you guys
