I have a fan. The light died on it. It is an E11 Base. The light was VERY bright, despite it being a small small bulb. I replaced it with a light from Ace Hardware and it was literally 1/20th the brightness. Garbage. So I went to Home Depot and got the highest E11 Base bulb I could find (150w). It's still trash. Absolutely no light coming out of it, compared to what we had. Now I am currently buying Halogen lights, but perhaps the old light we had was something different? LED? I'm not sure, but Im having a hard time finding a lightbulb that will light my room like the last one. The best I could find online so far is this http://www.laststoplighting.com/bulbrite-q500cl-mc.html

It is a whopping 500 watts and outputs 9500 lumens. But my concern is that my 150w 4400 lumen light was trash. If this one is only double the brightness, its still going to be trash.

Any suggestions? I don't want to keep buying bulbs that don't light up my room. I wish I had the original still but I think I may have thrown it out.

The make and Model # of your ceiling fan would be a big help in finding the proper type and wattage of lamp bulb. 500W sounds excessive for a simple ceiling lamp. It will also pull a lot of current and the wires in the fan/lamp may not be able to take the heat. Same for the socket if is not rated for that wattage.

I doubt that the fixture is rated for a 500 watt bulb. When choosing the bulb look for a high lumen rating on the box. watts are purely power use, lumens are the light output.

You're going to burn your house down.

Do you have any idea how hot those bulbs get? Do you have any idea about the fixture wiring?

Most residential ceiling fans using bulbs like that will be rated at 150w max.

Also, I highly, highly doubt your ceiling fan was using a bulb providing anywhere near 9,500 lumens. To put it in perspective, you're talking about something that's brighter than 3 4' T8 Fluorescents, and almost as bright as a 4' 2 lamp T5 High Output Fixture, which is blinding.

I know it's not any of anybody's business, but just what the hell do you need 10,000 lumen light bulbs for? Are you setting up an underground greenhouse with just 1 light bulb due to a bet?

(700-800 lumens is your typical regular old 60 watt incandescant ..... )

Alright, so 500 watts is out. I'm trying to figure out fan make and model, but having a hard time finding the box or manual. I don't really WANT 500 watts, I just want to be able to light up my living room, which my 150watt light bulbs don't even come close to doing.

It does sound like a bet that the sort of person with an underground greenhouse would make.

E11 is only for quartz, from what I see.
The only LED versions they make are much much lower intensity than quartz and are made for energy savings.

I can't believe that a 150W quartz isn't nearly as bright as your old one.
150W Quartz = ~2800 lumens in my GE catalog. (you says yours is 4400)

Even at 2800 lumens... that is equal to like 5 60W incandescents... which is extremely bright for a ceiling fan.

Maybe your socket is damaged or there is a wiring problem that is not allowing your lamps to reach full power.
Why did you replace the old one? Do you still have it? Take a picture of it.
