The total comes out to $968 after tax and shipping to California (the reason I prefer not using Newegg and Amazon). Also, the PSU has a $20 MIR to make it $948.

I need input on is:

1) Overall build comments
2) DVD drive/CPU fan+heatsink suggestions
3) Anything else I forgot I need?

Of course, you can look for non-OC and non-SLI/CF components if you want to pay less, or perhaps increase SSD size.

^ He definitely does not need an HD 7970 nor a 750W power supply for his uses. At most I'd get an HD 7850 and 430W power supply. The rest of that build looks fine.

Lehtv's build is good if you want to get the most you can get for your budget. However, as Termie pointed out, you can accomplish your goals for much less.
