Well ok today i got home turned on my pc and messed around for about 30 minutes...
Then some friends came over and i went over to someone's place and we were watching a movie and the power in the whole area went out, and theres a massive thunderstorm. I went home my pc is off and wouldn't turn on. I just troubleshooted it until i figured out that it would start with a different video card.
Weird i suppose.

If it was something like "Tripplite" or another GOOD surge protector (not a $2 power-bar) your compy was plugged into, you should have an insurance policy to claim there!

Even the $2-$5 power bars cover thousands of dollars in equipment..
But hopefully you had a decent surge!! Call that company..

Dont's skimp on the UPS or it will definetly cost you more in the long run. I just bought this, but at about $20 less.

It kicked in yesterday due to electrical noise during a lightning storm.

I got the same thing from office depot.
I think I paid like 20-25 bucks total for it after rebate
It also came with a free surge protector and some other junk.

Teh specs on that UPS say "725VA/450 Watts"
If I use it with a 480W PS could it possibly do damage? Or will it just not last as long if the power goes out?

A genuine branded "SURGE PROTECTOR" is covered for surges and spikes. A simple power bar will do NOTHING for surges or spikes and are NOT covered for any damages.
There's a world of difference. Even a cheap surge protector is a huge leap forward, though the insurance coverage is significantly less.... $500-1000 instead of $5000-100,000
