Limp Bizkit is actually kind of awesome

Somewhere the death metal gods are crying out in anguish. Opeth has been mentioned in relation to limp bizkit...

I just died a little inside, but hopefully those who do not know of opeth and think limp bizkit is good will listen to opeth and figure out what great music is.

Meh, I was just replying to the mention of Lamb of God, death growls, and 'random guitars.' To me, that says melodic death metal or some other related variety. I was ignoring flaccid biscuit.

Everlast did the rock rap thing way better than Fred, and Kid Rock was doing it better and a decade before Limp was even around. But Kid Rock seems to only do full on hick music now. Limp sucks, would have been nice if Tom Morello from Rage beat him unconscious with his guitar back in the day.

Actually the only rap rock that should exist is Rage Against the Machine. Everything else is trash.

Rage is a really dumb band IMO. They took themselves way too seriously. Zach delaRocha like would try to cram far-left essays into tiny lyrical spaces. Didn't really work out so well IMO.

Just realized that Limp Bizkit is kind of like Dennis the Menace. Dude's like this angry man-child -- which is what makes them so compelling to watch.

Someone I talked to at some point was a roadie for them and he said that Fred was actually a pretty cool guy. And that Glen Danzig is a huge asshole which seems to jive with other reports of the same thing.

I do like that one song. And their cover of Sanitarium at the Metallica Icon concert wasn't bad. But yea, I put the rest of it in the same bin as Insane Clown Posse.

Rage is fantastic as long as you ignore the preachyness.

I listened to far too much Limp Bizkit back in the day, but to deny they make catch tunes is kinda ignorant. Durst may be a douche, but the music was fun at the time.

I would venture a guess that you just haven't heard much of the stuff. It's fine if it's not your cup of tea, but good melodic death metal (and similar) is not just randomness.

I'll go ahead and say 'listen to Opeth' before anyone else does. I still think Hessian Peel is a great sample of how pretty their music often is. But punctuated with brutality. It's a ying/yang thing. Only everywhere in the middle, also.

Agree. I love their instrumentals to do this day, and always willl. I don't know if they are actually official or not, but plenty of LB songs with Fred's voice removed on YT, and they're great.

I loved it when Limp Bizkit opened up for Metallica on one of their Summer Sanitarium tours. The crowd did nothing but boo them for their entire set. Fred started firing back by saying some shit like "Oh yeah what are you going to do later? I'm going to go get laid." I wasn't really surprised that that's all he could come up with.

I listened to a lot of Limp Bizkit back in the day. Fred may not be the most talented singer, but he had a knack for the business side of things, hence Limp Bizkit's substantial success by helping spearhead the late 90's nu-metal movement. The problem with LB though is that Wes Borland and Fred Durst never got along, and I felt like their later albums suffered due to the lack of cooperation between the two.

Korn backed Limp Bizkit early in their career, and Limp Bizkit catapulted Staind. I'd say if anything good came out of the influence of Limp Bizkit, it was Staind.

Also, John Otto is easily one of the best drummers in rock history.

LMAO this is hilarious. Yeah, the rest of the band is actually a pretty good heavy metal band.

Although, Wes Borland actually set off on his own and made his own music for a while.

... it's not as compelling as Limp Bizkit. Hard to say why, but like taking someone seriously kind of gets in the way of enjoying music.

They're seriously the most Spinal Tap of any band out there today.

Zach and Morello made beautiful angry music. I'm not going to psychoanalyze their lyrics or care about their political goals I just know they played with a fire, passion, and in Morello's case, skill, that you aren't going to find in Limp Bizkit.
