Is it free?

I can't seem to be able to DL it for free...
i know its unix based but i can't seem to find out anything, and i dont understand why one would pay $120

1. it's not free and it, itself, is not open source
2. it's not based on unix, it's based on linux
3. most people say it sux. most reviewers were really disapointed.
4. I don't know why anyone would pay money for it either *shrug*

Yeah, i'm running red hat and mandrake at my house...
Linux is all unix based...
if lindows has the same file structure as linux, then i'd say it was unix based.

linux is unix as much as anything else.

lindows is garbage, dont waste your time.

when they could get any flavor of linux for free,
or windows for far less than $120

Well, not really, Solaris is UNIX legally, while the BSD's would be considdered NIXs by heritage, whereas Linux is merely "UNIX like"

Of course that's mostly BS in the end, but hey...

No one will pay $120 for Lindows, that's the point

It seems Michael Robertson has lost his mind in the last few years, what with his sale of MP3.com to Vivendi *shudders* and then the formation of Lindows, a plague upon the Linux world. I guess that's representative of the way the world of computers and the Internet is going...

I have to say I did pay for it... but I only paid $99 for the member kit. I downloaded it and installed it. It is the SAME THING as any other linux distro. they just changed the gui alittle bit, added sort of a ports system, and wine... that's it. Their great windows program compatibily is a version of wine.

Thank god I got a refund for my money. I wrote them back and said it was a waste of money
