Obviously after releasing multiple albums and having a fan following they aren't doing anything right.
Britney Spears had a big fan following back in the day too; I don't see her on anyone's top "great music" list. Don't judge the quality of music or a band based on a large following, people are generally idiots.
You're pretty much the idiot here. If people are buying the album because they like the single, you're doing something right. If someone isn't going to buy the album, why should they, or anyone else, give a crap about the opinion of someone who obviously has some sort of illogical elitest complex. eits has yet to provide any solid reason why LP is horrible other than his on bantering and overly-biased opinion which just helps us show that music is subjective. Once he gets over himself and realizes this, maybe he'll stop being so pissed off all the time and actually be able to present an opinion that I might give a crap about.
Unfortunately, the troll has been fed a steady supply of food this whole thread.
Judging from the two albums they released. There was little to no innovation. They just followed the same formula from song to song. The JayZ album, although kind of cool, was just their songs mixed in with his . I used to listen to them extensively back in the day (hs). But I can't really stand listening to them anymore.
I've noticed multiple differences. Either way I like both albums. The Jay Z thing was pretty cool because it was different. A lot of the songs on Meteora sound similar to In the End... because that's easily the best song on Hybrid Theory and they knew their fans liked that style. Reanimation is fun to listen to because the original was sort of 80% rock, 20% rap-ish... and that flipped it around. If you've ever heard the Hybrid Theory EP (From when they were called Hybrid Theory) Then you'd notice major changes from then to Meteora.
I can agree that Hybrid Theory sounds a bit immature and angsty for some people's tastes, but it sounded good. You gotta realize that came out about 7 years ago. They've definately grown and changed as a band since then.
