Tool often sounds like a harder and less hippy version of Rush... but they certainly aren't something that has never been done.

If I was supposed to think "tool" during that 30 second snipet that he posted, it might be in my guesses, but there are loads of bands that could sound like that. ******, even Linkin Park could make that 30 second snipet. Do I think Tool sounds like those bands if I listened to the whole album? No, but there are other bands that sound like Tool, and there are bands that had that sound before they did. Tool didn't just pull a band out of their ass. They obviously had to have some sort of musical influences or somewhere to start.

Whatever floats your boat though. You're obviously right about all things music based on the sole fact that you can insult other people's tastes and not back up your own. Jackass.

Actually, that's the only sample I could find on youtube/internet. Intension does not sound like a rock song at all(very relaxing ), it has awesome base/guitar though. It's slow-paced and develops nice base towards the end. The song is 7min 20sec long.
The thing is, it's hard to sample tool songs anyways, you gotta listen to the whole thing, they are like a story.

Hey thanks for the vid Lyssword, great song and great video to go along with it. The thing about Tool's long songs is that they aren't just some 3 minute commercial-like radio songs that are manufactured to appeal to the masses (ie Linkin Park). Tool actually uses creativity, talent, and skill to make their songs.

I still have no idea why people are saying Tool is like LP, there is no comparison...

It's not out yet. All of the downloads you're finding aren't the real album. There are probably 5 or 6 fakes floating around which contain Chester's old group, lesser known old LP tracks, a completely different band, etc. There's even a fake where the guy made all of the songs the correct name, and used the one currently released single in the correct track, but the rest of the songs are old LP.

Bzzzt, the real one IS out, and it sucks ass compared to Meteora. Preorder cancelled.

Listened to the album today... its terrible, the only half decent song is the one they released the single for. Too bad they went down the crappy side of music as some of their old stuff was pretty decent.

Actually the song they had on their website couple weeks ago is not bad, other songs are meh, however. ( the lyrics in it are "erase what I have done"/erase myself)

I've been a long time LP fan....and the album completely sucks. I thought about buying their new album too, but what's the point in supporting a group when their album sucks. This new sound just ain't working. I'll keep listening to my legit copies of Hybrid Theory and Meteora.

I was never a fan until I saw them live at two Summer Sanitarium shows a couple years ago. After that, I was sold. Great performers, got a good crowd response, played a good set. I give it to them for that, and I think now listening to their music just reminds me of a good concert. Looking forward to the album. I know it's pointless to say it, but it would be nice if people who didn't care would just keep it to themselves. The thread is for those that do, and I'm sure we could care as little about your opinion as you do for Linkin Park.
